Incredibly sturdy. I fell trees as a hobby, but I purchased this hatchet at the solid price point to play around as a throwing axe.I've yet to throw the damn thing. I've used it to limb felled trees, and surprisingly it's my best hand hewer. I've used it to to shape logs for outdoor stairs to add some character into the yard instead of just grading.I'm pretty hard on axes, I've chipped some fiberglass handles before even though they've been functional it irks me a little. The blade itself is holding up exceptionally well. I sharpened it with hand rotary on arrival and keep up with the hone with whetstones. It keeps an edge well and I've so no wear except for the expected coating loss.It also comes with one of the most simple and effective blade guards I've ever seen. A sort of plastic spring mechanism. If they sold the guards separately I'd buy them for all my other axes.Edit: both the hatchet and 24 inch are still going strong after 6 months of heavy use.
