Very happy with this purchase..
I needed a doghouse badly. After checking Walmart and ruling out an"igloo" model I went to Tractor Supply. They had a wooden one for $149.00. I was unsure it was large enough and didn't feel I wanted to spend the time putting it together. If I wanted to do that I'd just build one. This purchased hinged on cost, size and ease of assembly. I read the other reviews and decided I'd try this one. I have a German Shepard pup. The doghouse had to be durable; reviews indicated it could take a bit of a beating. I was aware it would be light and would have to be battened down. I was also aware it would need to be mounted on a pallet or something. I could not find this doghouse for less. I am a Prime member so the shipping was "free." The price was lower than any place else I looked. The doghouse went together in about ten minutes. I was alone and I have a bad back. The pieces are light and easy to handle alone. The ease of assembly allowed me to put it together without too much trouble. One purchaser indicated it was difficult to snap together as she lacked the strength. I did not have this problem. The clips lined up nicely and snapped tightly together. I was quite surprised and delighted. The only part that confounded me at first was connecting the two parts of the flooring. That is because it is the first step in assembling a product I was unfamiliar with. Once I figured it out the rest was a breeze. Before I made the purchase I measured my crate. I've used this crate for a Rottweiler and a Mastiff until they were about 6 months old. The doghouse measured slightly larger. I'm more than happy with the adequate size of this doghouse. It is roomier than I thought it would be and I am confident it will be large enough for my Shepard when he is full grown. There was no mention of vents. I was concerned about that but assumed, which can be dangerous, that the manufacturers would add vents and they have. There is one at each end. The stick-on letters are a nice touch. I can paint lettering but was more than happy to stick his name on the house in a matter of seconds. There are marks where you can push stakes through the flooring to hold it to the ground. I will be mounting mine on a pallet or something. This is not a thick, plush, insulated doghouse. It is durable, rigid, thin-walled plastic. It seems quite strong. Assembled and mounted properly, then adequately insulated with straw or something, it is a perfectly good doghouse and not at all as cheap as I was afraid it would look. It is a nice grey/beige color with an unassuming blue, corrugated roof. It has nice detail. Cute! My dogs do not stay outside all the time so this is good for my purpose. I saved a ton and got my doghouse in 2 days. I assembled it in minutes then prepared for company. Couldn't be happier!

The cats love this very nice house! You can insulate it yourself in a couple of easy steps.
I love this house that I bought for multiple cats who live in my backyard. They had taken to this house immediately after I sat it outside. I went to lowes and bought some insulation sheets for around $3.98 I believe and I cut a couple of them in half and layer it on the floor of the house and I used Scotch double sided mounting tape to tape it the sheets up against the lower part of the walls inside of the house and please remember when you cut the sheets it doesn't have to be perfect.....So there we have an insulated kitty house. Afterwards I opened up a couple of small packages of Mylar emergency blankets that you can buy on amazon and I payed on the floor which is on top of the insulation sheets that I placed on the floor of the house so it makes the house extra warm because the Mylar retains heat. After that I opened up a bag of straw/hay and spread it on top of the the Mylar and on the bottom of that is the insulation sheets which makes three layers of warmth. The next step is I had some leftover green outdoor carpeting that I have on my porch so I used what was leftover and put it on top of the other three layers. I then placed a throw blanket on top of that along with a pet warming mat and pillow....So we now have a nice warm and soft kitty house on the inside. I have some Stone pavers that you can get from Lowes for around $1.04 and placed one on each side of the bottom of the house to elevate the house and I had two plain bricks from Lowes as well that cost thirty-seven cents a piece and I stacked two on top of the other in front of the door of the house which makes a little step for the cats to get in the house. The last step in this process is I have cheap blue tarp from the dollar store that I folded in half and I placed it over the house so it draws off the roof and it covers the sides of the house and I then placed one brick on each side of the house to stake it down and you can also place a brick inside of a ziplock bag and place it underneath the layers of Mylar, straw, and carpeting to weight the house down if your concerned about heavy winds causing it to shift. I really like this house and I like looking out my back window and watching the kitties go in and out of it.....They use this doghouse more then they use the other two cat houses that they have. I want to thank the seller for sending it with next day shipping which I wasn't expecting and I truly grateful for it because it got here so quick. When putting it together you may need two people in order to hold one side or take something to hold one side while your trying to put the other side together. This is a nice house for the value and I plan on buying another one when I get the money and the kitties truly appreciate it. **Update*** On August 20, 2015 I purchased another one and it was well worth it. The only problem was this time when I tried to put it together it was quite tricky to put the floor together and it wasn't as easy as it was the last time.It was so frustrating to the point that I broke out into a sweat and was so mad! I did manage to get it put together. It's best to have two people put it together and please make sure that you put it together outside or in a garage because I couldn't get mine out of the door and had to disassemble the roof to do so. I'm still glad that the house is serving its purpose.

Great value-priced doghouse
Just got this in the mail today. It's pretty much idiot-proof to build. It requires zero tools to put together. It's probably not the most sturdy doghouse, since it literally snaps together from 10 pieces, including a two-piece clear door flap. It may not hold up to extremely gusty winds, so corner placement would probably be helpful with that, as well as maybe anchoring it down somehow with weights inside or something like that. The floor is two pieces snapped together, and sits directly on the ground. The roof is also two pieces, and each wall is one piece. It took me about 10 minutes to put together. The flaps connect with 4 included wing-nuts that screw on easily. The plastic is probably about the thickness of a standard cardboard moving box, so it's not going to be the most insulated doghouse either, which may leave your dog cold in climates up north. Adding one of those cheap aluminum foil emergency blankets with some hay or cedar chips on top would help reflect the dog's body heat back in though. It's plenty big for a lab, boxer, rot, pit, and most large dogs. Great Danes might be another story. But my yellow lab and pappi-uahua get in together with no problem. As for how it holds up under weather conditions, I'll just have to update as the seasons change. According to our crazy Arkansas weather and El Niño, spring and summer are coming soon, so check back for the updates during tornado season. But for the price, even if it only held up for a couple of years, it's hard to beat, and its main purpose for us is just to keep the dogs out of the rain and elements, as well as give them a spot for shade and heat relief for the summer. Cheers!

Great buy!
My husband and I bought this dog house for our stray cat...yes, a cat lol. As he came to us as a stray close to 6 years ago when we moved hinto our new home; as a stray he spends 99.5% of his time outside. I spoil him. He's all set up with food & water, a huge bed with a couple fleece throws and a cat house, which is rather small for his size- 18.9lbs. He used it when he HAD to in order to keep from getting soaked during a windy, rainy storm but he had absolutely no wiggle room. Winter is fast approaching and I needed to find a better way to keep him dry/warm. I liked into a patio bra (a covering for an awning) but it was way too expensive at over $3,000. I looked around on Amazon and came across this dog house and two other. I compared the three...reviews, measurements, materials, etc. and decided on this one. It had the best reviews and lowest price; no brainer lol. The dog house arrived quickly, five days after purchase. The box it comes in is very secure and thick for protection. The house itself is made out of strong interlocking plastic and is super easy to put together; took about five minutes. We learned the hard way to put it together outside first, if that's its final destination as the roof made it not fit through the door. It was an easy fix; we just took off the roof to get it out and easily snapped it back on once outside. The only complaint I have was that it was supposed to come with sticker letters so you can place your pets name above the door but mine was missing the stickers...so I just used a Sharpie to write his name on it. He got into it the same night (4 days ago) and he's used it every night since. Thank goodness because this was our last resort. It can hold a dog up to 100lbs (and I was able to fit in it- Female, 5'6", 112lbs) so for him, he has PLENTY of wiggle room. So far, so good. I will update my review once we're into the winter and I can see how it holds up to the wind & rain. UPDATE: 8/28/2017 Wanted to update on this a little.. My cat used it with no problems whatsoever- stayed together in all weather, no leaking when it rained (however, I did cover it with a tarp during the winter). He used it all winter long and during the not so hot summer nights. Sadly, my kitty passed away in March, so I passed the house on to my sister for her stray kitty friends, and they also love it.

Very Happy
Updated: I have used this house for all kinds of animals, pretty much everything except for dogs. My five star review stands because even after severe abuse that it is clearly NOT meant to withstand (goats climbing up and standing on the roof, hogs coming through the door so hard that the front basically rips off, with very little effort, the house can STILL be assembled and still provides dry shelter. In addition, I had to contact customer service regarding some missing small parts. The service was fast, friendly, and my parts were sent to me no questions asked in less than a week. Excellent customer service! Original review: I purchased this product to house a pair of geese, not for dogs. As mentioned in one or two other reviews, the initial reaction pulling the pieces out of the box is that the plastic is flimsy. I had two pieces already cracked when I got it. The floor and roof were both a pain in the butt to assemble (I was doing it by myself) but everything else snapped right together. Once fully assembled the house is very sturdy. We have had several torrential rains since I assembled this. I did not stake them down (stakes are not included) and despite high winds the house did not move (it is pretty heavy) and the inside remained very dry. There are vinyl panels included that go on very easily, and the letters for putting your pet's name are really cute. Fully assembled, this house is weather resistant, sturdy but easy to move, and looks nice in the yard and will keep your pet dry. Very happy with this purchase.

Really nice
This dog house gets 5 stars, with the understanding that it was one of the least expensive ones out there for this size. I definitely had some fears for it's possible low quality, but the house went together easily and looks great! It seems very sturdy. I find I really enjoy the customizable "name bar" - A small silly feature I know, but it adds character to the place. I am using the house for 4 smaller dogs so didn't want to put just one name on it and instead named the HOUSE. (Grey Haven) Complaints I guess are that it is not raised off the ground AT ALL. It really is just a flat walk into the house, so you will probably want to do something to raise it up. It's also lightweight. This is a positive when I want to move it around the yard all assembled, deciding where is just the right place... But I could see it being a problem on a windy night. (Edit: It has survived many windy nights and more than a little snow the past few months) I added a rug to the floor of mine for comfort and for a little extra weight. If that turns out to not be enough I may throw a couple good size rocks inside in the corners or something, there is PLENTY of space. My 4 dogs (total of 87 pounds between them) fit in iust fine with some room to spare. So this is 5 stars because it is amazing for the price, not because it's perfect. But if you are creative or handy at all you can bring it up to whatever standards you are likely to need.

Overall, good quality and price point.
This review is based on initial quality. Just received this doghouse a few days ago and assembled it today. The price was right, and I purchased it based partially on the reviews, and partially on my past experience with other Suncast products (Good). Having that said, this doghouse is made of relatively lightweight material. Fit and finish is good, but really could be thicker/sturdier material. Since this doghouse is for two rambunctious 1 year old German Shepherd pups, the first thing I did was make a run to the lumber yard. I framed out the foundation with 2x4 pressure treated, with a 1/2 plywood deck. Then I framed the inside of the doghouse with 2x2 framing stock. Once done with that, I anchored the doghouse to the foundation (lagged through interior frame). This doghouse is now rock solid. Let's see how it holds up to these crazy dogs... BTW - anyone need their irrigation system excavated? Yes, these pups dig too. For now, overall I am happy with the overall quality/price of this product. Buying the lumber to build this doghouse from scratch would have cost me significantly more money, and would be significantly heavier (harder to move when needed).

Overall a good house for your dogs. Big enough for two big dogs.
I've own this house for more or less a couple years and let me tell you is still out there. My dog uses it as a ramp to get over another crate that we have beside it, and it has hold just right. The only problem with the house is attaching on the roof panels when assemble at home (it comes in 8 unique pieces inside a LCD TV like box). The other bad thing about this house is not staying in one piece when two big dogs decide to play rough inside the house. With big dogs, is likely that a wall or the back panel get unattached from the whole body. But that wont affect the house. You will just have to prompt your dogs to play somewhere else and just snap back in the wall or panels that detached. By the way, the plastic or Polymer its made off is not bite proof. So don't get mad when your dog decides to do new air wholes or vents around special areas of their house. Last, but not to advice you that... the house comes with two view thru sleeves for added winter protection. The only problem with those things are the hardware provided by the manufacturer. Those knots wont hold in place, and you will end up improvising. But, not a big deal! The house is fantastic till one degree, and outstanding in the other. Little flaws that you may end up fixing in a quick moment is all its needed. I would buy it again. By the way, put it over some wooden pallet or bricks will keep it off the ground. O

Great looking, easy to assemble doghouse
Easy to put together. Looks nice. Good space for my 65 lb greyhound. She’s tall so she has to crouch a bit to fit through the door but it’s really spacious inside. Took off the vinyl door covers - seemed to bother her getting in and poking her head out of the door. Time will tell how it holds up outdoors
