Shows charging but won’t play what do I do?

If it mirrors until you are about to watch something... You hit play... Nothing... Its cause its not Apple. Amazon will make you return the trash you just purchased before refunding. I threw mine away. Went to Walmart. Bought the Apple Adapter and works.

Yes. Everything has to be plugged in. Not certified btw. Bought two non Apple from Amazon... It mirrors until you hit play... Then blocks playback. Bought an Apple Adapter from Walmart after Amazon said I have to mail this junk back (I did not) and works just fine. Only problem I ran into is playing espn.

Will it work with hbo max app.??

I couldn’t get it to work at all with my iPhone 7, but if it you can get it to work it will most likely work with HBO Max.
