LABEAR Keyless Drill Chuck Adapter, 1.5-6mm, 1/4" Hex Shank

This is a great little chuck for a hobbyist, it fits great in my little electric screwdriver. I am into RC, but this should be great for anyone that is into very fine work. Dioramas, model RR,etc. The quality seems very good and it definitely seems to be all steel (ferrous). Off course you can put it in something larger, but weight and power wreaks little bits.

This little chuck has good fit and the quality of the machining is very good. The fine thread used to tighten the jaws grips the drill bits tightly with good retention and is easy to use. The small compact size keeps the weight down and adds versitility to my cordless screwdriver. It is great for little jobs where I can clamp a drill in the chuck so that I can quickly drill a small pilot hole, then pop it out and put a screwdriver bit into the driver to run in the screw. Quick work!

For the price this is a decent chuck adapter. It feels solid and sturdy and works as advertised. Fits into pretty much any 1/4" hex shank receiver, the chuck locks down tight on drill bits and i haven't had any slipping issues with it after drilling into a variety of materials with different sized bits. It holds smaller twist shank bits exceptionally well and its very simple to use. I've fit bits in it from 1/32 all the way up to 5/16th's. 5/16th's was pretty much maxed out though. Real world application i would keep it to 1/4" and smaller diameter bits. Overall im happy with the purchase

Nice little tool. As others have mentioned, it's solidly made out of steel. I would add one caveat: the mechanism for tightening the drill chuck is a bit non-standard. Normally there's a large knurled outer piece that you twist and then a smaller, but still large diameter piece that you grip to hold the shaft still. The knurled part is standard, as you see in the photos, but that second piece is missing. Instead, the second piece is simply the hex shaft itself. My first thought was, "Well, that's different!" My second thought was, "Seems to work great, so fine by me." It does mean, though, that if you're not careful, you could probably unscrew that shaft right out of the chuck. I decided against that experiment since I'm not sure how easy that would be to put back together. Overall, great value for the money, very happy with it.

Works great in my DCD985. When you open it wide the interior springs look like they could be easily damaged if you weren't very well aligned with your bit installation, but those should be few and far apart with how affordable these are. They held a 3/16 bit comfortably through wood, even in a quick-change shank socket. The bit didn't slip at all in use.

Small

I bought a very cheap drill on Amazon , it would not close tight enough for small diameter drill bits, this solved all my issues

It has no stop when you reverse it to open it up. You will end up with 8 pieces on the floor, 3 of them small springs that may fly away forever. Never got to use it, threw the found pieces away. I think it’s a neat idea that needs more thought in manufacturing
