The LED lasts a lifetime, so it never needs replacing and it runs cool so it's always safe to touch, even when it's been on for hours.

Review: Even better than I imagined! - This Coleman LED Lantern IS AWESOME! I have always bought and trusted the Coleman brand with my camping gear. Tents, Sleeping bags, Lanterns, mini stoves etc.,they never let me down and their price point on most things is very fair on a value:quality:cost ratio. I somehow remember knowing that even as a kid - my grandparents as well as my parents, always owned Coleman products and bought them for us kids- summer camping was never without a comfy flannel lined rectangle sleeping bag, and the lanterns, propane and match lit back then- were always the light that was depended upon in the night when the fire or flashlights just weren't available or convenient. This lantern is much more than I expected! ▪︎ It's very light, can safely hang from even the smallest branch, or inside the tent without weighing on the tent clips. ▪︎ The handle has an easy separation mechanism for the situations where you legitimately have no way to get a 1 piece metal handle to attach to your desired hanging object (thinking of a low tree branch that is too long & high up to go over and slide down- but I'm CERTAIN there are some much better use-cases- I'm just too tired to think of any other at the moment) So it's, a simple hooks & latch setup, half of the handle is solid with a hook notched into the underside, and the other half is a split rail that latches on- to separate, you press down & forward on the split side until it clears the hook, and then slightly sideways to have it spring open, a gap of 2" in total. This process is easy, takes no force, (nor aggravation) yet seems to be a smart thing to have when a flat surface, open peg, or clip of sorts is not available. ▪︎ This forever LED is 400 lumens- I'd like Not to see what anything more is like- WOW this is bright! The switch is sturdy, easy-to-use in the dark- just turn 1 notch left for "low" (plenty bright enough to illuminate my dinning room, kitchen and living room, which is an open floor plan, with just a brick chimney, hearth and woodstove, separating the L cove of the living room from the straight shot of the dinning & kitchen- a 28'×48' area. On high, (this is with all other lights, TVs, computers, etc off, and it's been raining for days, so that now waning full moon has not been shining in the windows much at all. On HIGH, it's too bright for sitting on the countertop with ppl sitting in living room chairs, sofa- it's a 'stay above/sit the lamp below eyesight' situation if you choose to turn it on high. Around the campsite- I can't imagine needing anything more- especially with a fire- this will illuminate the woods in all directions for miles if unobstructed. Low is plenty. ▪︎ The bottom twists off, which is where the charger and USB cable are located. It's a USB-A to Micro USB, which is what fits the smaller of the 2 ports on the rubber stopped flip open compartment. It has a USB-A port underneath the Micro USB port - can be used to charge other devices. The Micro USB port is the only thing that gave me pause- just because everything has been a USB-C variant (for me at least, since 2018-19) which was when my cell carrier upgrade came due, and I got the S9, followed by the S10 5G) never have seen a Micro USB since- so 5-6 years, and now I'm going to remember to look at the male end of the cable- oh well, small sacrifice over all the good of this guy here. ▪︎ Charging- it's explained in the manual, but it is a very simple and PRACTICAL process - (why so many other devices have gone to complicated to remember especially when you just got several different items at the same time with these silly Charging/Battery Status/charged light schemes) flashing red turning to a slower blinking yellow, and then green ? nope, no light indication at all- or the blue lights with their blinking in 3 bursts, and the host blinks the number 8, 88, 888, then solid 888, yet the manual says that there will be 8 eights when charging- the screen is equipped with a 3 digit LCD- so 8 digits is indeed, incorrect. And if you are like me, in that I am bordering upon neurotic when it comes to properly changing my devices to be as energy efficient as possible, and get the longest lifespan out of our batteries- which is, I guess part of the first thing- energy efficiency means fewer charges for less overall kwH used on the cables & blocks-- K WELL if so, you'll appreciate Coleman for K.I.S.S. (minus the less efficient Micro USB- I mean, jeez, USB-C has more than just the convenience of inserting upside down and still being right side up- because there's also the same number of pins on flip side- str8 double. Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4. Data transfer, 1 way + charging PD , two-way charging or DP / PD at the maximum speed your charging block can provide/your devices circuits and the corresponding programming permits- but at least we know that our cables are capable of delivering the absolute maximum (and more) than our devices are capable of accepting, while not worrying about overwhelming current heating up and swelling our Li-On batteries. Somewhere I got sidetracked again-- Oh, right- of course: charging the lantern-- this is old-school simple: plug it in red light stays on that very same red light indicator will turn green when fully charged. easy. It took about 4 hours til full. The bulb is a forever LED, never will need to be replaced. The battery is easy to replace if & when the time comes. Underneath the compartment that stores the USB cable and charger, there is a flip lid panel, held closed by 2 small Phillips head screws. They remove, the door will open, and then the battery is simply plugged into a small white wire connector that plugs in/unplugs with the similarity of a cat5/6 data cable or a telephone jack if you are old enough to remember landlines and their native connector from the phone base to the wall jack. I apologize for my long-winded review. I should have waited for the morning when I am rested 🥴 lol. I absolutely recommend this product, and I am not exactly easy to please. Especially with electronics and outdoor gear- this one checks both boxes, and really, I don't get paid for my opinion, I don't get any kind of discount or merch, just my hard earned dollars for the gear I buy... So I am picky. This checks all the boxes except for the Micro USB- but that's an acceptable trade for all that is great about this one 🏕 ⚜️ ♻️ ★☆★☆★ 『』*recycle all Li-On batteries properly please? And actually, any would-be e-waste, please recycle that too!! Our grandchildren and their grandchildren are depending on us for this one more than many other carbon footprint reductions we can make! Thank you! Happy New Year 2024!! Wow!! I'm frickin old!! 🤯
