THORNE Red Yeast Rice, 900 mg per Capsule, 120 Capsules

From my personal experience it really helped me to control my bad cholesterol and after checking it with my doctor I stopped taking cholesterol medication. It is a personal experience only so you should follow up with a doctor to make sure that it is working with your body .

The product was open and broken

Doctor recommended red yeast rice about 5 yrs ago to help cholesterol level, when mine was borderline high. Thorne is a trusted brand. Taking this, as well as watching my diet, has helped me stay off prescription meds. It is expensive and not covered by insurance like prescribed drugs, but more natural than drugs and probably less side effects.

Refuse to take statins but these red yeast rice substitutes seem to lower my LDLs, so what can I say. My doctor thinks I'm nuts, but she didn't believe it when I lost 35 lbs. on KETO! She weighed me! What can I say? If it works, it works.

I have taken the product for years and it has brought my cholesterol down by about 50 points. I take 3 capsules at bedtime. My doctor put me on Crestor but I got joint pain with it. Of course you need to still eat a healthy diet but in combination with a low fat/saturated fat diet with plenty of fiber, this does the trick.

Edit: I’m back to say that this did lowered my LDL. While on it I also cut way back on red meat and eliminated all obvious fatty foods (nothing fried, no processed meats including bacon) and prepackaged crap and snacks. I still have to work on lowering my triglycerides so on top now I’ve also eliminated all refined carbs. In case you’re wondering- that leaves me with chicken, vegetables, some fruits (all berries are good), some nuts (almonds, walnuts and pecans are ok) and water. It sucks but I’ve also lost 25 pounds so far, am no longer pre-diabetic and it’s eliminating inflammation. And I’m not on a statin! My cholesterol is up. It is in the rise despite changes in my diet. So I’m trying this before taking a script. I really don’t want to be on a statin. I haven’t used it long enough to see a difference but just wanted to say that I fully trust this brand. I’ve used quite a few Thorne supplements and they are very reputable for their quality ingredients. It’s worth it to pay for something you know is legit. So many other supplements are mostly garbage. I’ve tried many different brands of red rice yeast, and I have to say this is the only brand that has really successfully lowered my cholesterol. For instance, I stopped using it and then started it again and within just a few weeks it was lowered by 20 points during the retest.
