It’s a bike rack, does what a bike rack should do.

I honestly cannot believe anyone had any trouble with this product! Installation took all of about five minutes, even without instructions (I had left the little cardboard cover wrapped around the rack in case I had to return it, based on reviews of so much trouble with it but ordering it anyway - the instructions are on the inside of the cover).First of all, this thing weighs next to nothing, so it's not going to add any burden to your pedaling. And it's got a long bungee cord to hold things on (if it's not satisfactory, just go buy a couple little bungee cords from your nearest department store).There are three plastic, cylindrical stacking shims of different sizes that come with this rack, each shim fits inside the next larger and the largest fits inside the rack clamp (where it attaches to the seat post). The clamp has two allen bolts already in place to tighten it to the post. The clamp shouldn't need any spreading, at least it didn't in my case (I have a Schwinn Avenue Hybrid 700c). I needed the two larger of the three shims in the clamp for my bike - it slid right onto the post. Here's how I did it:After first noting the depth of the post in the frame tube (you can mark this position or just make a mental note of the position), I removed the bike seat with its post from the bike frame (the quick-release lever on my bike allowed this).Next, I put the middle-sized shim inside the largest shim, then put these two shims together inside the bike rack clamp opening with the shim collars upward in the clamp, relative to how the rack goes on the seat post (make sure both allen bolts in the clamp are as loose as they can get without falling out of their holes, just to make sure the clamp is as open as it can go without having to force it open any further).The rack with its two shims slid right up the seat post with no trouble at all, although it was a good and snug fit. The upward orientation of the shim collars in the clamp kept the shims from sliding out or off the clamp as it was slid onto the seat post. I had intended to use a little dish soap and water to lubricate the surfaces if it became necessary, but it wasn't. Don't use oil to help the shim slide onto the post, as the oil will remain a lubricant and allow movement of the shim on the post even after the clamp is tightened as much as possible - the dishwater soon dries without leaving any lubricating residue.(Bikes other than Schwinn may take a little more work, I don't know, but I would imagine seat post sizes are probably pretty standard - I may be wrong; this is, after all, a Schwinn product and is therefore likely made to fit Schwinn bikes in particular, but it does have three sizes of shims.)Now tighten the allen bolts on the clamp so that the clamp is tight on the seat post, visually keeping the seat and the rack aligned. Then put the post back into the bike frame and tighten the quick-release clamp, again visually aligning the seat and rack together with the longitudinal axis of the bike and getting the seat adjusted to the same height it was.That's all there is to it. It's actually very quick and easy. Quite a product for a mere 8 bucks!

This rack has been useful. It was fairly easy to install, but I do wish it had a hinge mechanism so I could avoid taking the seat off. I guess a hinge would create a weak point, so it's a trade-off. Either way, it has worked well on my road and mountain bikes and it's a great price for the size, weight, and utility. If you're like me and you don't keep it on one bike at all times, I found it helpful to make a little marking on my seat post to show where the rack fits best and where my seat post aligns with the seat tube so that I'm not having to make little adjustments every time.

I wanted something light and basic to throw on my mountain bike that wouldn't impact me using it as a mountain bike, but would allow me to also use it to carry a bag if I use it to commute anywhere. This fit my bike perfect, took 30 seconds to install, is extremely sturdy feeling and will fit my needs perfectly.It isn't very long, so it won't hold a ton of things. But it can strap a single bag to it no problem. I particularly like the bars that hang down because it provides a little barrier from the objects you're carrying interfering with your rear tire.It's also extremely light. I wish I had weighed it out of the box, but when the box arrived it was so light that I thought there was a mistake in shipping at first. It's entirely unnoticeable when attached to the bike and still allows me to use it as a mountain bike without hindering performance.

Its everything I expected. My only complaint is that since it hooks up to the seat post, and my bike is a 28inch ebike, Id like to have my seat a little lower then it is. No big deal tho. I also attached a milk crate to it with heavy duty zip ties since I work construction and ride my bike between my hise and my bosses, so I can just drop my igloo cooler right in and don't need to worry about strapping it down. I've carried over the suggested weight limit by at least double. Overall I'm satisfied 100%. And it matched the bike, being a schwinn product.

Very easy to install and fit a 20" Guardian bike perfectly.

I had high hopes for this product as my bike is also a Schwinn (Schwinn Pathway Women's).The band was shipped defective. I was complaining I needed to exercise the night I put this thing on, but I ended up getting a workout trying to put it on. I was lucky enough to find a combination of plastic sleeves that worked, but it was really hard to get the rack on over it. So I had to use the cushy back end of a screwdriver to bang it down. Worse part is I have less than 1/2" clearance between my tire and the bottom of the rack. I currently have my seat post slightly lower than my handlebars... if I move my seat post any higher I will not be able to mount the bike. The issue is that despite the picture, the stem for the rack is not straight, it actually dips into a 45 degree arm... so you won't have as much clearance between while and rack as you may think you will have.PROS:Its pretty. It does appear to be sturdy (haven't rode with it or placed anything on it yet) besides the band.CheapCONS:Does not fit all SchwinnsWished it came with a reflector on the back of the rackI just wished it was well fitted to my bike.UPDATE:I just took the rack and my bicycle to a bike shop and they indicated the clearance I had was fine and it shouldn't droop onto the tire, however, my seat post is a little too high in order to accommodate the rack. So I had to buy a different rack. My Schwinn Pathway is a little bit difficult to fit to a rear rack, as it turns out. The seat post is also at an angle, that is why there's not much clearance between both rear racks and the tires. The Schwinn rack is pretty nice, it just doesn't work with my Schwinn bike unless my seat is the same height or higher than the handlebars.

Perfect size for carrying stuff on my new electric bike. Very sturdy.

Material quality is good, better option if your not sure if other product will fit to your bike frame, this one as long as you have a saddle bar you can have a rear rack. Useful in carrying objects up to 9kg.

Es amplio y se le pueden adaptar varias cosas.- Trae una liga elástica muy muy util para poner ripa, cajas pequeñas, etc.- Tiene porta-alforjas incluidas. Es raro encontrar un portabiltos con alforjas incluidas, y si se encuentra, son muy caros.CONTRAS- No es de aluminio, aunque el acero sinceramente se ve muy bien.- Se ajusta al tubo del sillin, y no a las nondanas específicas para eso (aunque en mi caso no lo veo tanto como desventaja, de hecho me gusta, espero no afecte al tubo.- No es muy ajustable. Si resulta que tu tuvo del sillin es mas grande que el espacio para meter el tubo, no te servirá el portabultos.- Tiene solo 2 tornillos de presión para ajustar. He visto otros portabultos que traen hasta 4 tornillos, lo que distribuye la presión y hace que el protabultos sea mas estable.OTRAS OBSERVACIONES- Es de tamaño mediano (ni muy chico ni muy grande)- Por su estructura hasta te sirve de salpicadera- Recomiendo apretar con llave Allen en L poque si se hace con cabeza de llave Allen pero con desarmador, no se ajustará bien y se estará moviendo todo el tiempo- Considerar la altura que existe entrela base del tubo del sillin y la llanta trasera, ya que si ambos están a la misma altura, la base del portabultos rosará con la llanta, puesto que el portabultos hace una L en su estructura- Recomiendo meter un empaque de neumático entre el portabultos y el tubo del sillin para conseguir todavía mas agarre y no se ande moviendo el portabultos

Bike rack was not a complete end product. There is no threading at all for the bolt to be tightened. Painful lesson. Not everything made in the US is grade A.
