BAOHONG Academy Watercolor paper is made from 100% cotton. It is 140lb/300gsm. Watercolor papers made from cotton would hold more color and with perfect water absorption. The heavyweight watercolor papers is acid-free and chlorine-free, pH-neutral and archival, durable. BAOHONG Academy Watercolorpaper is strong and durable for whether wet, dry or mixed media painting, and less likely to curl or warp. The Cold-pressed watercolor papers have a slightly textured surface, which is between that of rough and hot-pressed papers, allowing for a variety of watercolor techniques. 20 sheets per pack and all these papers are glued bound for easier tearing off, and a hardboard underneath for better protection and control. I already own a pad of Arches cold-pressed watercolor paper, but I didn’t want to “waste” it while I’m still learning the basics. That’s when I came across the BaoHong brand and decided to give it a try. They offer both artist-grade and student (academy) grade options. I chose the student grade, as both versions are 100% cotton. Wow, what a difference! Even as a beginner, I can tell this paper is leagues ahead of the non-cotton papers I was using before. It stays wet longer, allowing for smoother blending, and I’m seeing fewer harsh lines and edges. The texture feels very similar (if not identical) to higher-end papers I’ve tried. Overall, I’m genuinely impressed with BaoHong’s student-grade paper. If this is considered “student” quality, I can only imagine how incredible the artist-grade version must be. **Q: How do I separate it? I did not receive anything other than the pad.**
A: Also, check your package closely. I didn't think I received one, either, and it was in the bottom of the envelope in which I received the paper, not wrapped with it.

A: It comes with the paper block.

**Q: What is the difference between this paper (with the green cover) and their other paper with the teal cover? Both look like cotton cold press 300gsm?**
A: one is a better quality

**Q: What type of sizing is on this paper?  Gelatin or non-gelatin?**
A: It doesn’t say but in another product entry for this paper on Amazon, it says in the description: « The surface of this paper has undergone a proprietary gelatin sizing process that delivers extraordinarily brilliant colors ». I had assumed it was indeed gelatin seeing as it is Chinese paper and there may be less effort there yet to produce vegan paper.
