The SP0F000025 can be used on the 1998 F-150 with the 4.2L V6. The green tach source wire would need to be connected to the PowerTrain Control Module at pin 48. A white with pink striped wire.

Will this work with a laser sensor that produces the signal?

No, designed for automotive 12vdc only.

Will this work on a 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis?

The SP0F000025 would not work on the 2001 Mercury Grand Marquis without the use of a tach adapter which would have to be obtained from a different manufacturer.

Very pleased with this and ideal for a classic car (in this case Ford Anglia). Much better than some of the modern alternatives and well worth paying a bit more. I bought a cheaper Chinese model which was a false economy and then had to buy this to replace it.
