I learned to solve the cube when I was in 6th grade with a girl in my class. She and I bought a book and we went through it and we learned different algorithms to solve the cube. We then started a little nerdy group and we solved our cubes at lunch. By the end of the 6th grade, I ended up being able to solve the cube in less than a minute with the old standard Rubik's cube with gasoline lube, and I still to this day can solve the cube in less than 3 minutes with terrible carpal tunnel.
