If you are trying to make a automatic bilge you will need a float switch and the housing. If you are replacing a automatic pump that already has the float. If the float still works you just need to change the cartridge if the pump was bad

I would call Johnson Pump a bigger housing may be required.

Does 28512 Johnson Pumps of America Cartridge replace a 2851 cartridge?

It may replace it. When I was unsure I called Johnson directly and they were very helpful (847) 671 7867 is the number for them

Can I put a 1000gph cartridge into a 750gph Housing?

I would recommend using a Johnson Pump 28572 for the 750GPH.

Plug and play, just wire it in plug into the base unit and you're good to go. Super easy.

Quality that Works

These Johson pumps are great. Once mounted, should they fail, the cartridge are a simple twist out + unplug. My 2008 Lund bilge pump was intermittent + weak. Picked up the 1000gph to replace it. Perfect fit, crimped on 2 connectors, twisted the old out + new in, done. 100%!!
