The book is written in first person and the female narrator had the meter, accent and drawl of upper-crust Georgia just right. She registered shock and dismay regarding her husband, her disappointment regarding her grown children, her love of her female friends who shared her angst regarding their long-time boring marriages to men who took them for granted. Throughout the book, the lead character encounters multiple episodes, told with a vividness that compelled me forward to the interesting conclusion. This is a story about a wife who learns to stand up for herself, with the help of a fabulously eccentric brother, solid girlfriends, and grit she never knew she had. As I recall, the story takes place when she's in her late 50s, early 60s. A friend loaned me the CDs for my trip, but I loved it so much I bought the package to share with others. Review: This was delivered promptly. One disk was (scratched) damaged, but not enough to make me return it because I was already listening to disk 8 of a 10 disk book. The book I would highly recommend! I am new to this writer and definitely will be looking for other books of hers. Without listening to every single disk of every single book, there is no way the seller would know anyway. The price was right. I would definitely use this seller again.
