We have just received this hot plate, but we love it already. We do not have a stove, so we are cooking in an air fryer and a griddle. I wanted to be able to make mac and cheese or a quick soup. I decided to try a hot plate and ordered the Techwood hot plate. It comes with a notice to burn off the chemicals on the burner before first use or it could stink. I did turn it on for a few minutes before cooking, but I have not noticed a smell. It heated up quickly and our wonton soup was done in just a few minutes. We are learning to cook so we are experimenting with flavors. I decided to make my own broth, and it was great. I made it from fresh ingredients, and it was done quickly. It tastes great and saved me a ton of money over going out for wonton soup. I did not notice any noise other than the boiling water and love that it can be tucked away easily once it cools off and I can move it around or take it with me if I need a place to heat something up. We love this thing and how it will help us expand what we are able to cook. I can't wait to make some wings.

My stove died, and I got this hot plate to tide me over until I can get a new range. I picked this one because it has handles so it can easily be moved even when the burner is hot. This heats very quickly, and water comes to a boil even at the "Low" setting. In fact, I can turn it off and unplug it and the water will continue to boil for at least five minutes. If I want to simmer something, I need to set the dial somewhere between Low and Off, and I still need to check the food frequently to make sure it isn't burning on the bottom of the pan. The burner stays hot for 20-30 minutes after the unit is unplugged, which is longer than any electric stove I've had. This hot plate is meeting my need, but I wish the temperature range were better calibrated.

I have a very small kitchen in my apartment and have to use small appliances because there is no kitchen range. I purchased another brand of hot plate previously, but it did stay at the desired temperature. Although this one does not have degree markings on the heat control knob. It doesn't take long to figure out where to set the control knob to obtain the temperature you need. This hotplate is very substantially built, doesn't slide around on my countertop, and works very well. It is a bit slow to warm up and, like all hotplates that use this type of burner, it stays hot for quite a while after it is turned off. You can, therefore, turn it off before your food is cooked and save on power use.

This burner works terrific it boils water it heats, warms, and easy to care for. It’s easier to use and it cools off well as long as you give it the amount of time as instructed. The first time using it, I plugged it in outside, so there wouldn’t be any older or smoking in my home. It’s worth the money.

I have used this hot plate less than 10 months, and have used it lightly. I use it to heat a kettle up in the morning for a French press. The other week, after turning it off and going about the day, my husband said, "The hotplate is still on and super hot! But the knob is all of the way off! This thing is going to catch something of fire!" The plate was scary hot and had to be unplugged to turn the burner off. Basically, now the knob for On/Off plus heat adjustment does not work and it runs on hot...yet hotter than it did on full heat before the knob stopped working. I contacted the email for support. Supposedly they are to get back with you in 24hrs. I never heard back, so days later contacted another email address. They responded next day and said this email address does not handle these issues but, they will send my email over to (the email address I already contacted previously). The person who replied also stated that they have been busy, so just keep sending emails and they will respond. I have sent many emails over and over and I have had no reply what soever. I rarely place reviews...not because I do not care to. In fact, I wish I did. I am just so busy, that I do not have time. I honestly want to share good reviews and I have so many to share. I am so disappointed in this situation that I feel the need to place a review. I'm very disappointed that the company fully abandoned me and did not stand by their product nor stated warranty.

Have only used a few times, but it does a decent job. I was using it for outdoor deep frying, but the oil didn't seem to get up to 350F despite being at max setting. Could have been my thermometer though, it did do a great job of frying the wings and fries I made, so im betting my thermometer was off. Portable, feels like decent construction. Easy to use. I'll test a few more applications but so far, so good. I'll keep testing it out. Good price point.

This hot plate gets really hot quickly and does the job. There are couple of things that could have been done better: The temperature control knob has no numbers just few bars starting at off to Minimum and then solid line to Maximum. The knob has a red mark and also another not colored arrow like mark at the opposite side of the red mark, which could be misleading which one is the correct one to use. After first use and test, I figured out that the red mark is the correct one to use. It is hard to control the temperature once it gets hot, as it stays hot much longer than a regular old style coil. Therefore controlling its temperature correctly has its own learning curve. Also the knob when on Off or Maximum position completely covers the words Off and Maximum. Cleaning the plate also could be challenging because of narrow grooves on the plate, as water or oil when drips, it gets hard and by the time plate is cold enough to clean, it could be challenging to get rid of them.

I always buy these for my student rentals, usually these last about 2 / 3 years of daily use. They have a solid stand but underneath it does not get hot, i have tiles so i don't know if it would be ok to place on a wooden counter and it wouldnt case any damage in longterm. The control knob is large and easy to understand and adjust temperature. The handles make it easy to move around. But it does take a long time to boil water on this, for smaller thigns like frying eggs, and things it's ok, but once it gets going, it gets going. You do need to make sure you have enough amperage in your outlet so you do not pop the breakers, so i would only recommned using this alone on an outlet to avoid breakers tripping. It's not super easy to clean though, especially the burner itself if any grease gets on, that's it, its super hard to get it off after.

Temperature control switch is getting over heated during cooking time, it’s very dangerous it could burn your fingers, I contacted Amazon support and they gave me the email address of the manufacture Techwood customer support at “[email protected]” and I asked me to report the issue to the manufacturer and I did email them and I explained the issue and asked them for a replacement but they told me I need to contact the after sale support team and they gave me their email address at “[email protected]“ and I did email them with all the information needed such as item name Techwood Hot Plate, the model, the serial number, the purchase date, and so on and also sent supporting pictures to show the defects, but unfortunately no response from them from January 01 and after 9 days I sent them a reminder and still no response and now 23 days passed and still no response so I don’t recommend anyone buying this item because it’s bad quality plus bad after sale customer support
