This is a very durable and nice looking hat! I work in a garden center where we're out in all weather types 8+ hours a day and this hat has been able to withstand everything. Pros: - The size of this hat accommodates many different head shapes. I have a smaller head to match my slender frame and this hat fits perfectly! I tried on a few different "women's" hats of several different brands, all of which were much too big. This hat fits comfortably. - The brim is wide enough to cover your face and neck while not looking ridiculously large (even on someone with a slender body type). - The material is flexible but still retains its shape even after rough and long-term use. (I've even sat on my hat a few times and it's still in the original shape!) - The hat material is woven together very well to keep the sun off of you while still giving the hat a nice lightweight feeling. - It protects your head well in the rain. In heavy rain, the hat will become soaked and begin to droop (which honestly should be expected. It's not waterproof which in my opinion is what allows it to breath well). - The "Wind Lanyard" is made of a soft pleather material with a simple wooden bead. The lanyard has been very durable and effective, even in high winds. - It's very easy to keep clean. Throughout the day my hat gets dirt, water, dirty water, and many other things on it. Rinsing it under some water and dabbing it dry with a towel has kept my hat stain free and still in great condition. I even spilled a soda on it once, rushed to the kitchen to rinse it off, and there was no stain. - I have gotten MANY comments and questions from customers about how nice my hat is and where they could get their own! This is a nicely feminine work hat. Pro/Con: This one is both a pro and a con depending on what you need: This hat offers no insulation in the cold. If your working outside in cold weather, you'll need to have a headband or winter hat to keep your head warm. Alternatively, the hat stays rather cool on hot days. In 98 degree temperatures, I was much more thankful to have the sun off my head even if I had to deal with the slight bit of extra heat I felt from wearing the hat. Cons: I haven't found any yet after 10+ months and counting. Conclusion: This hat exceeded my expectations and I'm planning on buying another one. I recommend giving this it a try. Best hat I’ve worn in years. Loose enough on the head, yet the lanyard held firm in any wind. Best sun coverage! Didn’t need to wear my sunglasses most of the day, even in very sunny weather.

This Gardener has been purchasing Sloggers hats and shoes for years. Love them both!Great quality that lasts. Writing this review for color verification. The color on the hat’s tag says Earth Stone. It’s gorgeous . I like it better than the photo online.But be aware that it is not a solid stone color . Sharing a photo so you can see actual color.

(Editing a couple of months later -- I haven't even worn this once. There really is too much light poking through, so I keep going back to my plain cotton hats. It's cute, and if you're not concerned with really getting that UPF 50+ or whatever, this could be a good choice, but I really need something that will block out sunlight.) This is a cute hat (and shipping was fast -- really fast). The brim is wide, and it will definitely give you shade and some protection from the sun. The label claims the hat provides 50+UPF, but when I hold the hat up to light, I can see through the weave. I don't mean that the material is a bit sheer -- I mean, I can see past the stitches and bands of material and see pin-point-sized spots of unblocked light. So I'm not sure how much UV the hat will truly block. (I guess you'll get some ventilation?) That being said, it is absolutely better than nothing and will keep most of the sun off your head, face, and neck. The hat arrived well packaged for shipping but was not itself sealed in plastic, so cleaning at least the liner before wearing would be a good idea. The brim keeps its shape well but does make a rustling or crinkling sound when you move it.

I love this hat. It shades my face and shoulders when I am working outside. The lanyard keeps the hat from blowing off. It gets very windy where I live and it stays on. It is a very attractive hat according to my husband.

I live in Phoenix and the sun is brutal from April until October (if it sounds miserable, it is--we are definitely moving!). I do a lot of outdoor activities and I need to protect my scalp, ears, face, décolletage, and neck. A lot of hats only protect your face, which is probably why so many people have deep wrinkles on their chest. Anyway, I had five criteria for a hat: it needed to have a wide brim; repel at least 95% of UV rays; fit comfortably on my head; have a chin strap so it would stay on; look cute. This hat met all those criteria. I was thrilled when it arrived--really good quality with a nice cushion/sweat band in the head area, to encourage a snug, but not tight, fit. The diameter of the head opening is 7" to 7.5" (it's somewhat stretchy). However, the first day I wore it, I was completely dismayed. Every time the wind blew even a little bit, the brim of the hat would fly up and leave my face exposed to the sun. The really frustrating part was that the hat wouldn't fall back down to its original position by itself. So each time, I had to turn the brim down. Imagine doing that six times in 45 minutes--it drove me nuts! I've decided to return the hat even though it's good quality, cute, and comfortable; the material is just too light to stand up to wind. There's no point in keeping a hat if I can't wear it on a windy day or while I ride my bike. The search for the perfect hat continues. *sigh*

Great hat. A little expensive but it is worth the money. I use it all summer long.

We just took a trip, where I had a hat with no chin strap. The wind kept blowing it off of my head, so when I came back home, I looked on Amazon to get a good hat with a chin strap. This was the hat that caught my eye and I ordered it to see if was good. I can say that I'm very happy with it. The hat is good quality, looks really stylish and the chin strap is sturdy with a bead to keep it in place. I may get a couple of other colours as I use these kind of hats when travelling and to the beach etc. It folds well and can be packed in a suitcase for sure.
