Q: I'm having a small party for only 10-12 people. Is this fountain overkill for small gatherings?

This fountain may be a bit overkill but I would still do it. If you are having a chocolate party it would be just fine. :-) I used it for my mother's 70th birthday party and we served 50 people but I also had other food. I used 2 bags of the Wilton chocolate for this fountain as recommended in the instructions. We had a tiny bit left over. You could try it with just one bag of the chocolate. You can always use the leftover for ice cream etc. Enjoy!

Q: How many continuous hours will the fountain work?

I used it at my sons wedding reception, and it lasted more than 6 hours.. I kept the level up and it ran smooth the entire time.. Only thing is, make sure to clean it soon as you turn it off,, if the chocolate cools and sets up in it, it's much harder to clean, so make sure to clean it before it gets solid again..I jusy held all th eparts under running hot water to remove excess chocolate and then washed in soapy water before storing

Q: Can you use cheese for this instead of chocolate?

We don't recommend it, cheese is thicker and won't flow very smoothly.
