Funny and heartwarming
Franny K. Stein was a big hit with my child when he was younger. Now I buy copies for the young kids of friends.Funny, slightly scary (but not really), and with energetic, humorous illustrations. Highly recommend!(One exception: we did not like "Bad Hair Day," book 8 of the series. It seemed off-brand for Franny to be thinking in any way of normative beauty culture, and it just didn't work well as a story idea.)

Great series!
My school kiddos in 2nd-4th love this series! I like the twist that Frank is now Franny and she's their age. It gives them something to connect to while making a horror classic funny. Two thumbs up!

My daughter loved this series when she was 8
My daughter loved this series when she was 8. But she loved to read (and still does). Her little brother (now 9), not so much. But this week he had an assignment to read something by one of a group of authors and one was Benton. I downloaded this to the Kindle and he gave it a shot. He was laughing uncontrollably halfway through the first chapter (Is there a bat store around here?) and actually voluntarily read half the book in one sitting. He wants the rest of the series.

Love. Read these in my childhood. Purchased as gift to a boyfriend who asked for a list of my fav books growing up. Nice sentimental gift. Obviously an easy read for adults. More of a keepsake though for the person I bought it for.

Cute, but better for young readers.
My daughter enjoyed this cute book, but I think the age range is incorrect. It is more of a picture book than a novel. Took my first grader about 30 minutes to finish. Disappointing because we were looking for a series to replace Goddess Girls and Never Girls.

Must read for unenthusiastic readers!
My son loves being read to, but doesn't so much love reading on his own. However, this series has him in the mood to read! He loves how goofy Franny is and all her wacky inventions. He laughs out loud when he reads these books. I very much recommend this series for anyone with a young, book picky child!

We heart Franny K. Stein
My five year old and I love this book. Love it. He loves that Franny is so deliciously different and that it is hilariously illustrated to prove that fact. I love that the text is accessible to young readers without talking down to them. It is probably not a book for a very young reader (4-6) to read independently, unless they are pretty advanced for their age. However, it is a perfect read aloud or read along book.

Fun with amazing vocabulary.
This book was a great read for my child. I would say it’s about a 2nd grade level, but the vocabulary is rich and students will find many higher level words.
