Great product, easy to install and looks very nice in a small space.

Surprisingly good deal on a very nice looking and quite practical stand for storing one or two bikes in a small space without damage to the walls or floor. Based on other reviews of this product, I was a little skeptical, but quit attracted to the design, so decided it was worth a try, and must say I’m quite impressed with the aesthetics and value of this rack. I works perfectly for me to accommodate two bikes in a snug, high visibility space, right behind the entry door to my apartment, where the owners don’t want as much as a drywall anchor hole marking up their walls. This was a solution to a bit of a tricky challenge, and one I’m very pleased with. I heeded the advice of previous commenters, and was careful to crank the floor tensioners down quite hard (see note below regarding this process), and did utilize the two ceiling screws, which are not designed to be load bearing at all, but are sufficient for keeping the ceiling plate from unwittingly drifting under use and weather changes. I recommend grabbing a wrench to occasionally check the force on the tension screws in the floor plate to accommodate slight structural shift as seasonal weather changes if you are in an area with significant temperature swing (this could be the cause of some of the failures I’ve read about). This rack does not grip the frames, but rather cradles it in two points, requiring some balance of the bike on the two points. Because top-tubes on various bikes come in at different angles, some creativity with the hangers is required, but not too much! A mountain bike I have hanging, for example, angles upward as it approaches the handlebars at such an angle that the bike would be tempted to slide backwards out of balance. Simply hooking the rear hanger behind the seat post at the top point in the rear triangle (see picture) solved this problem easily. My other bike has a downward sloping tube and required a higher rear hanger. The flex a bit which helps to self balance, and this process is somewhat intuitive because a more level bike will be more aesthetically pleasing anyway. Also, setting the tension on the floor bolts is a bit of a repetitive process, since tightening one bolt will relieve some pressure on the other, which then must be tightened, and so on. You think you’re done then, but check again! Take your time with this, not trying to crank it to it’s limit on first try. You’ll be able to gradually and more evenly snug it down this way, and get the stand relying more evenly on the full structure, as it was designed. Once secured it’s impressively stable and strong.

.. the whole construction is not very sturdy and the selected wood is too flexible. With two bikes hung up, the slightest touch brings everything into movement. Up to now everything is holding in its place. Maybe if you have kids or pets, you should consider to buy something more secure. Besides this, two of the metal arms look like they had been used. The bottom plate holes to hold the adjustments bolts in place are made very poorly. The base plate of bolts can slide in all direction when trying to set up the whole thing straight.. why not just using the right size for the holes? This could be improved without even increasing any production costs. Anyways I’m giving 4/5 because of it’s price. It’s very affordable, easy so install and looks good.

The biggest problem with this rack is the top piece that goes against the ceiling uses foam pads instead of a couple layers of non-slip area rug gripping material. Do that with the bottom too if you have hardwood floors as I do. This rack has been set up to intentionally fall, but it didn't with 60# of bikes. Whereas when it was set up with pads and everything was square and level balanced, the foam allowed the top block to slip under weight, just as many others have experienced and written about in their reviews. The second biggest problem is the double extenders that you have to work against one another. Tighten one, the other gets loose. Anybody with minimal engineering sense knows this is a disaster in waiting just as the foam pads are in allowing the top block to roll off a ceiling. There is a structural solution that doesn't require one to monitor the stand once it is set up as this company asks you to do, but for whatever reason the manufacturer has not consulted a professional. The third problem is the inconsistency of stain. I received pieces that are clearly from two different lots. Once again this was easily fixed, but still. The fourth problem is that this company doesn't care about feedback. Those instructions are awful. Looking at how old the reviews that mention poor instructions, there is no way they have been improved. A technical writer with graphic design experience could fix the instructions and diagrams easily. So, what is good about this rack? It is inexpensive, and with a little bit more effort on the purchaser's part, it can both look great and stand the test of time. No top ceiling screw required. Just wish I could buy two more sets of arms to hold four bikes, two sets of two. Because this rack could do that using rug grippers.

Looks and works great. I’d put it in my living room if my wife were ok with it.
