Vetoquinol Laxatone: Oral Hairball Lubricant Gel for Cats – Maple Flavored, 2.5oz

This gel works great for hairballs! My cat just loves it, it is like a treat for her. It really does help her pass the hairballs.

It was the only gel with effective ingredients that I could find after 15 minutes of browsing various websites. It is TOO GOOD! My cats think it's a treat and go crazy for it. They lick it right off my finger. I don't have to play any tricks. It's easy and I love it. When someone has an upset tummy from a hairball or something that doesn't settle well... it helps just about instantly. They stopoed being hunched up with a belly ache and start acting normal again. TMI: One of my cats was constipated and he had a BM 5 minutes after having his tsp. (Not what I bought it for, but hey I'll take it!)

My vet recommended this for hairball messes. After first tube bought at vets office, I have bought this same product from Amazon, because vet is 30 miles away. It works and cats love it I used it 2-3 times a week for my cat.

This works very well for my cat’s problem. Every 2-3 days I put some on his arm, he cleans it right off. I’m not sure if he likes it or just wants it off his arm!😀

YOU SHOULD CONTACT YOUR VET BEFORE GIVING YOUR PETS LAXATONE. We had to take our 13 year old cat to a vet because she could not keep an ounce of food down. She is a Himalayan and Persian mix. She is 13 years old and in perfect health for her age. The x-ray showed she had a blockage for which the vet thought was a hairball based upon shape and mass. Our cat doesn't eat anything around the house and she likes to be clean so we could see that as a good diagnoses. Just because our cat had a hairball stuck doesn't mean if your cat is experiencing the same symptoms that is what they have. The course of treatment was Laxatone. He said older cats may have trouble coughing up hair balls or passing them. Laxatone did the trick. We give it to her twice a day; 1/8 teaspoon in the morning and before we go to bed but you may have to adjust the dosage. We slide it on top of her paw and she licks it off. This stuff makes it so she can pass the hairball through her intestines instead of having to try and cough them up or get them get blocked again. We are on our 2nd tube and very happy with the product.

This stuff works! My 10-year old tuxedo cat began barfing up his food. I initially thought he was eating too fast and bought him one of those bowls with the little fingers in it so he'd have to slow down. When he continued to get sick (he eats only Science Diet MD) and I knew it wasn't his food, and he eventually hacked up a giant hairball, I remembered having a cat with hairball problems when I was a kid. The vet back then gave us some Laxatone for that cat and boy did it work! So, I ordered some for my baby Boo. After the first dose, Boo Kitty stopped getting sick. I now give him half a teaspoon once a week. His stool seems much "larger" now when I scoop his litter box, but so far, no more hacking up hairballs and no more barfing up his food. As far as getting him to take it, I just squirt some on a teaspoon and he licks it right off. He seems to love the "sweetness" of it. He will even come jump in my lap when he sees me open the tube to put some on the spoon. For those having trouble getting your cat to eat it, try putting some on a spoon BEFORE their morning feeding. It may be that your cats don't like the taste of it combined with their food, but may like it by itself.

So Maple is an odd flavor to give cats. My cats hate it and refuses to eat it. And one of them will eat ANYthing...

Our vet originally prescribed something similar for our cat, but it’s just easier to get it on amazon and works exactly the same. Same brand as well. Our cat doesn’t throw up hair balls anymore as long as we use this consistently. We mix this in with his wet food once a day. He seems to like it and it works as described.

This was pretty expensive but it did the job. I would recommend it
