In Heft 1 geht es sehr gemächlich los mit Vierteln und Halben... Aber durch die Betonungszeichen wird trotzdem schon ab dem 1. Stück geübt, "lebendig" zu spielen! Und dann wird es von Stück zu Stück immer ein kleines bißchen schwieriger, entweder vom Rhythmus her oder von den Noten. So arbeitet man sich durch verschiedenste Taktarten, Stile und Tempi.Bögen und andere Artikulationszeichen sind vorgegeben, wodurch gut geübt wird, das gesamte Notenbild zu erfassen - und nicht nur die einzelne Note.Die Tonarten sind moderat, höchstens 2 b oder 2 #, aber im Stück sind manchmal jede Menge Vorzeichen "versteckt"  :-) !Im Unterricht kommt das Heft sehr gut an, weil es nicht wirklich "Etüden" sind, man aber trotzdem allerhand lernt und die einzelnen Stücke sich gut in 8-14 Tagen erarbeiten lassen.Ab Seite 18 wird dann auch extrem auf Heft 2 vorbereitet, wobei der Schwerpunkt wieder entweder auf dem Rhythmus ODER auf den Noten, bzw. dem Tempo liegt.Der Komponist, der alle Stücke selbst geschrieben hat, gibt als Schwierigkeitsstufe für Band 1 "Stufe 1-5 "an und für seinen Band 2 nennt er "Stufe 6-8". Anscheinend gibt es in Großbritannien ein etwas anderes System als hier bei uns, wo es ja insgesamt nur bis Stufe 5 geht.Fazit: Zum Selbststudium meines Erachtens nicht so wirklich geeignet, denn es braucht schon den "Fachmann", um die verschiedenen Stile wirklich gekonnt hinzukriegen. Für den Unterricht aber eine beliebte Abwechslung mit gutem Training für ausdrucksvolles Spiel!
