I think that if possible, it depends on how many screws you use the shimano clip, because this piece is under the clips.

They come as a set -- however, having used them -- not so impressed -- the metal is soft so after use, it becomres concave toward thecleet. This makes engagement of the shoe progressively harder. Does protect the boot though.
