And as I learned on my honeymoon last year in Antigua -- which was my first tropical vaction -- I'm even allergic to conventional hypoallergenic sunscreens. I had packed this sunscreen as backup, knowing I'm ultra sensitive, but relied on a popular brand that is hypoallergenic for the first few days at the resort, because I had never been in the Caribbean sun and didn't want to fry.I tan fairly easily and I don't burn very easily, so that might impact my experience, but this worked for me when applied correctly. I try to stay out of the sun when I could, but I still spent lots of time walking around the property and in the pool and ocean. The soothing ingredients also helped calm down the hives/allergy reaction I got from the conventional "hypoallergenic" sunscreen I used earlier in the week. It helped it to stop itching, seemed to calm down the redness of the hives and -- best of all -- kept me sunburn-free. If I hadn't packed this, our honeymoon might have been a disaster. I'm repurchasing now for a trip to the Dominican.It's important to read up on this sunscreen and learn how to apply it -- I believe that made all the difference. You want a white sheen on your skin that will fade away on it's own, and you need to use a lot, and you can't expect to sit in a pool for 4 straight hours without getting out to reapply. I believe they reccomend around 1 ounce of product per application, and I reapplied frequently. Natural products require a litle more effort, and they're more expensive, but for someone like me who is allergic to EVERYTHING, this sunscreen is a life saver!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It works. I definitely plan to buy it again. My husband and I used this product all week while in Hawaii, snorkeling and hiking, plus working outdoors in Southern California. We don't get much sun, so we were pasty--but this sunscreen protected us everywhere we applied it, even for 2 hours at a time while swimming or sweating. There are only a handful of ingredients in this product, which did not aggravate my sensitive skin (I was recovering from dermatitis at the time and had just come off steroids and antihistamines). Also, the stuff is a "low hazard" for reefs, according to the Environmental Working Group ( e w g dot org), which tests and ranks sunscreens for their impact. The formula is less thick than other mineral sunscreens, so it's easy to apply. My husband hates putting anything on his skin, but he didn't mind this. It goes on white, but dries clear with little odor. Don't rub it in too much--you want to look a little white at the start--you are trying to lay down a thin mineral film with this product. Be sure to apply 20 minutes before going out into the sun, to give the lotion time to form the protective film. I'm guessing that other reviewers didn't like the product because they didn't apply it right or didn't give it time to set. Lastly, it can leave white stains on clothes, but I had no trouble getting them out in the wash. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Does not absorb *by V***C on Reviewed in the United States on November 9, 2021* Would rate this lower if not for the low price, compared to all other reef safe products.This thing does not rub in, it leaves a white layer over your skin. If you apply it slowly little by little, you can kinda make it work. But it clumps up easy if you try to spread it over a large area.My boyfriend used it our first day in Hawaii and still got burnt. I did not get burnt so maybe it works.
