Is there a pole or stick in the middle to carry the weight of the net?

Yes there is a pole in the middle plus you can adjust the tension of the net on each end post. Net is worth the money to have the option to wheel in and out of my garage real quick to drill on my lunch hour. The pic shown only shows half the net. Pole on the right side is actually the center post (6 total castors).

Is this rust proof or rust resistant?

i wouldn't say its rust proof. over a couple of uses, you'll see where the ends connect, they wear down. easy to use. I live in Temecula, Ca where its warm. no rust issues so far but i've only had it for a few months

Does Franklin make a replacement net (the frame/stand is fine)?

I am sure they do. Just look it up.
