How well does the speaker and microphone work outside?

I have only used the speaker and mic indoors. I have now used it twice in a classroom and it has worked well. Both times I had a bit of trouble initially positioning the mic so it worked properly. The part that is supposed to go around the left ear is uncomfortable (doesn't actually reach below the ear comfortably). I purchased this to accommodate a student with hearing impairment and that student was able to follow the class well when I used the mic and speaker, so for me it was worth it.

How long the battery lasts if used continuously?

I used for at least six hours and it was still operating

Im a street performer, would this be suitable for singing through?

Mmm... I doubt you'll be able to use it effectively for singing for various reasons: 1) in order to get decent volume out of it, you have to place the mic very close to your lips, and when you do that, you get some wind noise, plus, if you bop your head when you play/sing, the mic will probably move around a bit, which willl affect the volume and the quality of the sound; 2) this speaker's frequency response is not really right for singing -- it's all mids, lacking both the crispness of decent treble and the depth of decent bass. For vocals, I'd recommend a portable amp, such as a Vox DA-5, that you can run off batteries, and it'll give you really good --and loud-- sound.
