At first I wasn't sure about it, but the more I use it the more I like it. It is easy to use for small watercolor paintings. Works well with ink and gouache, too. Don't use it for alcohol markers, they won't blend on this paper. But for watercolors, it is durable and holds up well to washes with minimal warping. I was impressed.

I’ve been painting with watercolor for about a year now. This was my first time painting on hot press paper and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. This journal is lightweight (not clunky like some I’ve used), the paper is thick with a smooth surface, and the binding is durable. It handled water and paint beautifully (I didn’t practice a lot of lifting or scrubbing, but the little I did do was tolerated perfectly). My only complaint is that when you use masking tape (even applied gently) to preserve a white border, it badly damages the paper when pulled off. Using a less sticky washi tape prevents this problem. All around, it’s a good little journal. I’m happy with my purchase! I will be buying from this company again in the future.

The paper is nice quality, supports color removing, and multiple washes. No paper peeling. but, youll have to find a way (like tape or clips) to keep the journal open since you cant fold it back; otherwise, the first couple of pages youll be fighting to keep the journal open lol. Overall id reccomend for a travel journal.

Doesn't bleed through, great paper material, been using gouache painting on it and it is perfect, to me. I did accidentally leave tape on it too long for one of my paintings and the tape stripped some of the surface up while removing it ( which is my fault for probably using the wrong kind of tape) but this paper seems durable because you really can't tell if it was damaged by looking at it or holding up to the light. Wrote on the paper with drawing pens of different sorts and dont see any bleed through, perfect since i like to leave messages on the back of these paintings. Looking forward to shop here again. The perfect travel sized hot press watercolor journal I have ever bought. I’ve used many different brands of both hot and cold press watercolor paper and so far Paul Rubens has been the best for me hands down, and I needed a small watercolor journal for my travels, this was the best pick. Functions as it should and if you put a strap around it it makes it easier to flatten out the page you just worked on. As far as watercolor paper is concerned I prefer hot press and this is great! Absorbs slowly but not too slow and mixing the color on the page is fluid too. Easy to use and carry with you in a pocket!

Paul Rubens Art Supplies Watercolor Paper Hot Press 7.6" x 5" is a nice book to carry around. The cover is sturdy, protecting the pages inside. As “hot press” goes there is a soft textured feel to the surface. The weight is terrific. Be careful when masking because the surface will tear off easily. The pages are perforated so it makes it easy to tear out. Overall, I do like these books and will continue to use them.

While I don't have much experience with hot-pressed paper, I quite like this one. BUT there is a manufacturing issue with the ribbon bookmark; it's not colorfast and has bled dye onto the two adjacent pages, leaving a noticeable stain. This has happened to both of these notebooks that I ordered. So, not really happy after all.

Excellent paper at a reasonable price

Came in good condition and easy to use.

Considering its low price, this watercolour journal performs quite well. While mine had a few creased pages and the binding could be sturdier, the paper handles watercolour and ink beautifully.

I’m very happy with this watercolour paper as I have been using the paper from Kmart watercolour pads because I didn’t think I was good enough to use the good paper but I’m very happy with this paper and I highly recommend it to anybody else
