Treet 100 Carbon Steel"The Black Beauty" Double Edge Safety Razor Blades

These have become my go to DE Blade. They yield a very comfortable shave, but don’t yield multiple shaves. Two shaves tops in a safety razor. If one looks back to the early days of DE’s, various contraptions were marketed to hone carbon steel blades to extend their life. Have not tried this but would be curious to see what is possible. While these Black Beauties are great in a Safety, I have found these blades really shine for me in a Shavette designed for 1/2 DE blades. As such I can get up to 4 shaves per single blade, but generally toss the blade after a single shave per each 1/2. I’ve always found Shavettes difficult to shave one’s self with vs a conventional straight. Can see why barbers use them on clients, they are sanitary, economical, and one has a better line of sight shaving another. With the exception of the smooth Feather injectors, it is just way too easy to nick yourself darn good with a DE blade Shavette. I believe it is because DE blades have a very sharp corner edge. The Feather injector blades or the razors themselves are rounded and more forgiving. Not 100% sure. For reasons I can’t explain, these carbon steel Treet blades are simply amazing in all Shavettes I have tried. I’ve pictured a Goodfella smile Shibumi but have used these Treet in generic folding straight style Shavettes with similar results. Compared to stainless DE blades in a Shavette, the Treet just feel smoother and less harsh to the face. Hard to explain. On some level they lack the cold rigid feel of stainless blades. I’ve also noticed these Treet blades provide better auditory feedback in the Shavette than a stainless blade. It is not on the level of a conventional extra hollow straight razor, but noticeable. I am getting some of my best shaves ever with these blades in a Shavette, especially on my neck which has long been a trouble spot. I’ve speculated its because these are budget blades in carbon steel, they are softer, but may also be thinner and more flexible providing a little more “give” around certain contours. They have become my DE blade of choice. Everyone’s face, skin, and whiskers differ, so YMMV. These do however, offer anyone very good value per dollar. Would recommend trying these carbon steel blades if you haven’t already to see if they’re a good performer for you

The majority of reviews were good however these Treet blades are poor after one shave which was ordinary i tried again on a second and it ripped my face. I will go back to Astra.

I am very positively surprised by these razor blades. I have what I would consider a medium beard growth, my facial hair are not coarse but not soft either, my skin is pretty sensitive. In my Muhle R41 (which is broadely considered an "aggressive" DE safety razor) the Treet Carbon "Black Beauty" works extremely well for me. Very smooth shave, needed only 2 passes for a BBS shave. Usually with other blades I need 3 passes (including the highly praised Feather blades, which are undoubtedly very sharp and great blades but unfortunately cause me quite some skin irritations). I'm so delighted with this combination of razor + treet carbon blade. Hardly any skin irritation, no razor burn and no tugging. Fantastic ... and yes, these blades do rust. They need a bit more care. I usually take 'em out after shaving, rinse and use a hairblower to dry them. That seems to work quite well. I get three fantastic shaves out of one blade before it degrades and I need to discard it. The cost per shave is a few cents. I love that. The extra effort in "babysitting" the carbon blades with the quality of shaves is totally worth to me. As always, YMMV. Like others mentioned, I would suggest to get a sample of these and try 'em out.

It is sharp and smooth. However, keep in mind that these blades are dependent upon a good razor and some practice. The value is amazing. If I take the time to dry the blades and store my razor in my bedroom instead of the steamy bathroom, I can get 4 or 5 shaves per blade. It isn't necessary at this price, but I wanted to test the metal of the blades.As an aside, I haven't used a safety razor in 30 years until recently and the manufactures will be pleased to learn that an American Infidel cut his own throat with their product... Even if it was just a minor nick...

The TREET carbon steel “Black Beauty’s”. I was pleasantly surprised, and impressed by how well these blades performed. They are very sharp, but smooth. They do their job well without irritation leaving your face buttery smooth. I used them in my 1965 Gillette adjustable slim razor, along with a Kent shaving soap puck. This combo works so well, that even after three full passes my face was free of any nicks or cuts of any kind. And, when I splashed the aftershave on my face I felt none of the stinging I normally experience with other razor blades.One should remember that these blades are high carbon steel, not stainless; and as such they do rust. Quite quickly as a matter of fact. If you want to use them for multiple shaves, I recommend coating them lightly in a shaving oil. I can honestly say that these are some of the finest blades I have ever used. I highly recommend them.
