Trying to find a product that isn't made like a piece of garbage these days is often difficult. I have tested this thermos and it really works well. The lid is a little peculiar, but then I came to realize that they made it to keep the heat in even as you pour out your favorite liquid. I am using this largely for my hot tea or coffee. I had recently tried just to find a hot plate to keep my carafe on instead of on the stove but found problems with several. They weren't going to work and some were even dangerous and poorly made. So, instead I decided to just find a worthwhile thermal carafe to keep my stuff hot. This one works great. It is double walled stainless steel,( no glass inside that can break), and it keeps my drinks acceptably hot. I will preheat with hot water prior to pouring in my coffee or tea. I am using a Cuisinart electric kettle that has six preset levels from 160F to Boil and that thing is dead on accurate. I get my water up to 200F for coffee or tea. So, using a Thermoworks Thermapen to test, I fill the carafe up to my desired level. It will lose a few degrees in that process depending on how hot the preheated liquid was. At that point it will register at 196F. I'll close the lid and come back to measure again in an hour. That reading is apx 186-188F. In another hour it reads right around 182F and then another hour it reads 176-180F. So, three plus hours of hot drinks. Mind you, every time I opened the lid, I am losing some of the heat, so the readings may have been a bit higher taking that into consideration. The outside of the thermos remains at room temp, so you know there isn't any heat loss there. The instructions are great and they cover everything including the process of taking the intricate lid apart for cleaning. It really isn't difficult if you pay attention when you do this. Ordinarily, you should not have to take it apart every time but a good rinse under hot water should do the trick. Washing out the carafe is easy either with a bottle brush or as they instruct, just fill with a mixture of vinegar and water every now and again. I have used it with both coffee and tea and have not had any carry back flavors. If you want a well made product that keeps your liquids hot for a good while, this will do the trick. I love this thermal carafe and know you will too.

I’ve owned several insulated carafes, and they’ve worked well. But now that I live in an RV, I need a carafe that works very well and doesn’t take up much space. This is the carafe I’ve been wanting. I preheat it by pouring boiling water into it, letting it sit for a few minutes, then pouring the hot water back into the tea kettle and boiling it again. Then I pour the boiling water back into the carafe, and it stays piping hot for a long time, even overnight. The preheating trick is something I’ve just started doing, because I need my hot water to stay hot for a long time. It’s a bonus that the lid comes off by squeezing two buttons and lifting, rather than unscrewing it, like most carafes. You put the lid on by pushing it down into place, where it clicks to close. That’s a great design. I’m impressed.

I own a Zoji rice cooker and Zoji insulated mug. Both are among the best products I have ever purchased of any type. The insulated mug keeps coffee too hot to drink for 6 hours and hot for 12, no pre-heating necessary. So I am curious why this only keeps my coffee hot for about 3 hours. The other reviews have a wide range of heat retention reports, from about 3 hours (like me) to over 12 hours. I do not pre-heat with hot water and am perfectly open to the possibility of user error on my part, but I am curious why it does not keep my coffee hotter for longer - especially given the amazing heat retention of the insulated mug. All other aspects great. Fits my moccamaster coffee maker (also an amazing purchase), looks great. Great ergonomics etc.

The carafe for my 16 year old Moccamaster KBT-741 attempted a backflip off of the counter top - well, my elbow may have played a minor part in it - and broke the handle off. The handle is made of polypropylene - which for some reason Technivorm treats as a trade secret - so it can't be glued. The only real solution is to weld it. The carafe never kept coffee warm anyway, so why not replace it for something that does? After all, the Moccamaster carafe wasn't easy to pour, unless you use big wide coffee mugs, didn't keep coffee warm and the screw in top was a pain to use and was constantly being misplaced. The Moccamaster replacement carafe is $85. I couldn't justify it and it is lined with glass. Why not have a vacuum insulated double stainless carafe? It still doesn't have a push button pour... A swing and a miss. The envelope for a replacement carafe in the Moccamaster KBT-741 is a diameter of 5 3/8 and a height of 9 1/8. I don't know why these manufactures don't include the height dimension of their carafes with the stopper removed. The Zojirushi SH-HC15BM has a height of 9 1/8" with the stopper removed and a diameter of 5 1/8". The stopper is just cool: it comes off with a pinch and pours a nice, clean, predictable stream. It fact the stopper is almost too easy to remove. How dare you Zojirushi! At 42% less than the Technivorm carafe, it is no contest. So if you are looking for a better solution for your Moccamaster KBT-741, this carafe is definitely worth your attention.

I absolutely love this product! This carafe keeps my tea warm for up to 15 hours — seriously impressive. Zojirushi has been around for as long as I can remember, and they consistently make some of the best quality products out there. I actually own about six of their water bottles, and they’re all fantastic. They keep my tea hot or warm for hours, which is perfect since I sip tea throughout the day. I drink at least 40 oz daily — cold in the summer and warm in the winter — and Zojirushi never disappoints. Highly recommend if you want reliable, long-lasting temperature control!

Hello, I recently purchased this Zojirushi thermal bottle through Amazon.com because of the brand’s excellent reputation for quality. Unfortunately, I am very disappointed with this product. After using it as instructed, I noticed that it does not keep beverages hot. It also does not seem to create the proper vacuum seal or internal pressure that a thermal bottle should have to retain heat. Based on my experience, I believe this bottle is defective, as it does not perform its primary function of keeping coffee hot. I would appreciate your assistance with a replacement or a refund. I had bought one for myself months ago, if not at least a year, and it works wonderfully. It retains heat for a very long time which is great for getting karak from cafeterias. When my friend broke theirs, I immediately thought of getting a second one as a gift. Unfortunately, it did not retain the heat at all, cooling off within 2 hours, and I had to issue a return. I was not only disappointed but a bit embarassed having sworn that this is an amazing product. I'm taking a leap of faith and ordering it for a third time hoping I can gift this to my friend. I hope what I receive now is as good as the one I use.
