The Oxo Good Grips 8-inch is perfect for my needs as it has a large capacity and it is made of stainless steel mesh screen. I’ve tried sprouting in both a glass and plastic vessel successfully, but the vessels tend to heat up and then the house smells of brassica, which isn’t pleasant. For the broccoli sprouts, I soaked three tablespoons of seed for two hours and then drained and rinsed the seeds in the Oxo strainer, I wrapped a wet but winged-out kitchen towel about the exterior of the strainer and covered the top with it, and placed the strainer in a bowl in case it dripped water. I rinsed the seeds twice daily and dampened the cloth. I grew the freshest and cleanest sprouts yet and it was easy. The strainer itself is lightweight and of good quality, and I find I am using it also for other kitchen tasks. This is a win, win, for me, without buying another unnecessary piece of equipment that may or may not be used regularly.
