The wooden handle is about 4.25 inches long, which fits in my hand but is just a bit smaller than I was anticipating. The bristles are about 0.75 inch long and are firm but have enough give to them as to not be 'pokie'. My dog LOVES it and it makes her coat super shiny and soft! This is probably because they used an oil-based polyurethane wood finish and not a water-based polyurethane finish. It's likely, because of this, that many of these brushes are still in need of curing when they ship out (as was the case with mine), and secondly that most of them will continue to off-gas throughout their whole lifetimes. You notice it most strongly when you sniff it up close, which will not be unusual for your pet.The brush itself is also rather small and collects fur very quickly, so it's not exactly pleasing aesthetically.
