It is interactive and self directed. One person or several people can enjoy it as a puzzle, story, or game. I highly recommend it. It was a huge hit with the kids!

I bought this for my oldest son years ago and we ended up losing about half of the pieces so I ended up buying a replacement because it is such a nice puzzle. The quality is outstanding as it’s thick wood with beautiful colors and metal hinges for the doors. Inside each door is a magnet that corresponds to the painting on the door and is a great thinking game for your kids to think out which magnet goes with which door. I don’t think it’s very difficult as my 4 year old can figure everything out pretty easily. My kids love playing with it and it’s a puzzle that really stood the test of time because we still have the old puzzle and it’s in great condition years later. The only reason why another was needed was for the replacement magnets. I highly suggest.

My one year old grandson is with me nine hours a day. He has blossomed into "new" experiences. These little doors took two days for him to figure out how to open, the opening is small and takes a moment to figure out. The doors overlap because of the small spaces when opened so he is learning cause and effect and problem solving. The magnets can be difficult to get out, but it is teaching him patience and perseverence. He has his favorite figures and walks them about my home. We have just begun putting them on the refigerator and learning to clean up by returning them to their homes in the puzzle. Great quality as usual with Melissa and Doug.

Perfect for 9+ months and even more so for 12-14 month olds. I highly recommend this for any baby that is interested in opening and closing doors or cause and effect. It is adorable to see how play has evolved from playing with just opening and closing the doors to now picking up the magnets and moving them around. Highly recommend.

This hide and seek board is very educational because the child learns which items belong together. For example, the dog goes in the dog house. The flaps are easy to open and the pieces under the flap are magnetic, so they don't fall out or get lost. My 15-month old son loves this toy. He is too young to know which pieces go where, but he will learn that in time. Meanwhile, he enoys opening the flaps, taking pieces out, and trying to put them back in. It is beautifully made with bright colors and durable wood. Be careful with a child who puts toys in their mouth (because of the magnetic pieces), although the pieces are really not that small. I would recommend this hide and seek board for everyone!

My son loves this puzzle! He loves opening & closing all the doors & moving all the pieces to different cubbies. The recommended age for this starts at 36 months, my son is a lot younger so he doesn't know which piece goes into which cubbie, but he loves it still, so it's a great toy that will stay with him for even longer! I even tipped it upside down & shook to see if the magnets were strong enough to hold in such a case & they did! But they are still easy enough for the littlest youngsters to take off, no problem! Love the way this is built too, very nice craftsmanship...I love this brand & now do even more.

We got this for my son for Christmas (17 months old) and he loves it. He played with it constantly for weeks. After a couple months I rotated it out. When I brought it back again he spent quite a long time playing with it. It’s not quite as interesting to him this time, but he still goes back to it (24 months.) I won’t leave it out as long this time. I’m sure it will be a hit again when I get it back out. I really have no complaints. It’s a bit large but I like all the latch/lock options. It doesn’t fit in the M&D puzzle holder. The hinges are a little crooked on some of the doors but not enough to affect the function.

Another Melissa & Doug hit! Love how easy this is for my daughter to open the doors and explore this toy on her own (22 months). It’s a great puzzle style educational toy that has great replay value, since we have found new ways to play with it as my daughter has reached new milestones. Great value! Perfect to start around 18 months even.

One of favorite toys

This little puzzle kept my two-year-old granddaughter intrigued for ages! The magnets keeps the pieces from falling out but are not difficult for little fingers to maneuver. Highly recommend.
