My second grade students love Zeke!
There is a waiting list in my 2nd grade classroom for who gets to read the Zeke Meeks books next during independent reading. D.L. Green really GETS kids and what makes them laugh. While she wrote this series with a silly sense of humor that kids crave, these books all have a good message at the heart. Parents, teachers, and kids alike will delight in the misadventures of Zeke and his classmates.

Not worth a read
I am shocked that this was part of our schools curriculum as an option for reading material, and I have let his teacher/ principle know. I continue to struggle to find quality literature for my children that does not necessarily include the classics. These books are filled with phrases like "girls are stupid, my sister is stupid and my mother is stupid" as well name calling "you're a freak" and bullying with little resolution. They are not isolated incidents but they are attitudes and language used thought the books. This is not what I want my kids reading, living or learning about. Returned these the day we got them.
