## Description

The Sawyer Cleaning Coupling offers an alternative way to clean your Sawyer Squeeze Filter, Micro Squeeze, or dual-threaded MINI filter using a standard plastic bottle. Simply remove the cap from your filter, attach the coupling, then screw the other side of the coupling onto a standard plastic water or soda bottle (28mm thread) filled with clean, filtered water. Once attached, you can forcefully squeeze the bottle to backwash and clean your filter. Repeat as necessary until the water comes through clear and easy. Review: Does the job, and good price - Sturdy little piece of plastic. I’ve taken this on one backpacking trip to date. I found this to be a perfect fit to join my sawyer filter with a smart water bottle (a favorite of backpackers); it seals well with no leaks. I would heavily recommend using a soft bag for your dirty water going into the filter, as this thing makes a good enough seal that you have to leave it a little loose if you’re feeding from a rigid bottle, otherwise the pressure is such that the water can’t move through the filter. As is, you’ll still have to loosen it every once it a while to let the air out of the receiving bottle. It’s small, simple, light, and a perfect addition to a compact sawyer filtering setup.

CLEANING - BEST FOR ME . . . . I got rid of the syringe on this product and carry this much smaller, more effective Sawyer SP150 Cleaning Coupler. I mostly use it for filling 1 quart, collapseable, screw-top, plastic bottles. When they get full the flow automatically stops since it is sealed tight (air is removed before filling). Cleaning, then, is as easy as squeezing the clean bag after removing the dirty bag. It's SO easy, my filter gets back-flushed every use and it performs great, seemingly, forever. Hard plastic bottles with the same screw top have their advantage in camping and can also be used BUT MUST be coupled loosly to allow air to escape. After filling, tighten the clean bottle, remove the dirty source, squeeze the clean bottle to back-flush. Top off the clean bottle if desired. GRAVITY AUTO FILTERING With the Cleaning Coupler (SP150) and the Inline Adapters (SP110) and with some clear plastic hoses, I connected the filter to a Reliance 2.5 gallon collapseable plastic jug (wt 7.5 oz) !! Now with just one trip to the stream I have 2 1/2 gallons of drinking water available (after filtering) and the wide mouth of the "dirty" jug fills quickly. 3 or 4 ft of hose also allows a higher elevation for the "dirty" source and increases the flow considerably. As a bonus, the drinking valve that comes with the filter fit perfectly into the mouth of a second 2 1/2 gallon jug so I could get a full load of clean water with no work and no need to hang around and watch it. Water flow automatically stops when the "clean" jug is full since it fit so good. Same with screw-top collapsible bottles - screw one on to the filter with this Coupler, turn on the valve on the 2 1/2 gal jug and walk away - it stops automatically when full. I can fill my 4 x 1 Liter bags with less than 1 minute taken away from my outdoor fun !!

**Q: What clever ways have you used this ??**
A: I have not used it yet but got it to adapt to what needs for a fit

**Q: is this worth double the cost of a generic cyclone tube?**
A: I just bought the cyclone tube last week, and it looks like I would have to saw off about 3/16" to connect it to the Sawyer or a water bottle.  If trying to connect it to Sawyer and a water bottle both, note that you will have to saw that off both ends of the tube.  I sent it back today and will order this to make it less trouble.

**Q: Will a narrow mouth Nalgene bottle screw into this fitting?**
A: No.  They do sell compatible bottles but Narrow Mouth Nalgene models use a 38 mm thread.  The Sawyer filters use the standard 28 mm threads found on most plastic soda bottles around the world including brands like Pepsi and Smart Water.

**Q: Does this work with the sawyer mini aswell?**
A: I don't have this product, but the Smart water bottle sports cap works well on the Sawyer mini to backflush. Then you don't have to use the syringe that comes with it. But it still doesn't seem to connect it for gravity fed filtering.

Sturdy little piece of plastic. I’ve taken this on one backpacking trip to date. I found this to be a perfect fit to join my sawyer filter with a smart water bottle (a favorite of backpackers); it seals well with no leaks. I would heavily recommend using a soft bag for your dirty water going into the filter, as this thing makes a good enough seal that you have to leave it a little loose if you’re feeding from a rigid bottle, otherwise the pressure is such that the water can’t move through the filter. As is, you’ll still have to loosen it every once it a while to let the air out of the receiving bottle. It’s small, simple, light, and a perfect addition to a compact sawyer filtering setup.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Probably the best sawyer product I bought

This totally cut down on my weight for the backcountry. It allows you to leave the syringe behind and use your bottle as the back flush. Also, fun fact if you string some paracord through one of your sawyer bags, connect the filter to that bag, and then use this connector to connect your smart water bottle to it you have a UL gravity filter. This set up has become my go-to for all my backpacking trips. A tip though, unscrew the smart water bottle about 1/8-1/4 turn from the coupler. This allows the air in the bottle to escape so the gravity system can work.
