We previously had thick white curtains on our sun-facing curtains in our Hawaii apartment (no air conditioning) and it was sweltering.These shades are fantastic. Immediately we noticed the room was 5–10° cooler once we installed them. Silver backing FTW.They’re also relatively blackout (no light comes through, though a bit sneaks around the edges).Easy enough to install, though our concrete walls required us to buy some tapcons and use a hammer drill.Note that you have to leave a bit over half an inch on each side for the hardware. We placed three shades immediately next to eachother (triple-wide set of windows), and there’s a bit over an inch between the fabric from one shade to the next.

Shade arrived on time. However, it was missing 2 of the screws necessary to hold the brackets to the window frame. It had an odd long black screw covered with drywall powder in the hardware pack. Apparently this shade had been returned but not everything was sent back with it. The ends of the shade were rumpled and wavy like it had been forced into a window opening that was too small. I found my own screws and easily put the shade up in the window opening. Works well but would have liked a new shade without the ruffled edges.

Good quality. Easy to install. Glides very smoothly.

Blocks sun as advertised. Just wish it were longer.

Had to return as the grey was much lighter than on the website. Looked like the light grey.

I bought 4 of these shades; 3 in gray, 1 in beige. The ones in gray worked fine, however the one in beige has the fabric unraveling such that there are threads sticking out along the entire edge of the shade. It's not just that this doesn't look great, but it's a real problem each time I want to lower the shade, as the threads get tangled in the cog the shade wraps around, thus preventing the shade from lowering. I tried trimming the errant threads off, but they just form new ones with the next use. I'm not sure why it's only affecting the beige shade and not the gray ones, considering they are the same manufacturer, same size, and get the same amount of use. Maybe I just got a faulty item? Anyhow, aside from the issues with the beige shade, the gray shades have smooth action when they lower and raise. They do a great job at blocking the light, although this depends very much on how you mount them to the window. If you mount them inside the window frame, then you get good light blockage. However if you use the outside mount, then there is more than an inch gap between your shade and the window behind it, which lets a considerable amount of light into the room. The inside mount is harder to do because the sizing has to be very precise, but it is worth it for the additional amount of light blockage you get.
