My rescue dogs approve...all 8 of them!
I dont usually write reviews, but what the heck. I am a foster parent for an Animal Rescue, and I have 8-10 dogs in my home at any given time. The dogs I foster often have personality or behaviour issues and need a lot of training. Food training works best for these dogs, since many of them spent time on the streets , hungry. It gets expensive to buy treats for 8 dogs. I gave these a try because they are the perfect size for a training treat; the bag is very large, and the price was good.My dogs, without exception, LOVE them. From the smallest chihuahua to the big chow, they go crazy when I pick up the bag. I have 8 dogs staring at me every time I go near the cupboard. One of my fosters is a hospice dog, a 14 year old jack russel with only four teeth She dances and turns in circles when she sees me coming with one of these. The best part is, i can afford to buy these in quantities enough for 10 dogs , without busting the bank

Not For Small Dogs
The resealable bag contains a generous amount of pepperoni like rounds. There is a strong bacon aroma and the treats are round and thin. The dogs like them but the package cautions against giving to animals under five pounds. The back of the package contains a feeding chart with weight based recommendations. The expiration date is 08/04/15.While the dogs think they are great, I am less impressed. While the first ingredient is beef, the treats contain fairly high amounts of starch and sugar. Additionally there are questionable ingredients such as food coloring and propylene glycol. While the latter is deemed "safe" for dogs, it is not safe for cats. My cats have been known to enjoy a dog treat or two with the pilfered ones being somehow tastier. I don't know if the unsafe designation is weight based (which would explain the prohibition against feeding small dogs) or species based. In any event, just because it doesn't seem to effect a large animal does not mean it is harmless. This product is manufactured in the US but in order to determine where the ingredients are sourced, you must contact customer service. When I called everyone was in a "team meeting" and I was instructed to call back at another time. Scouring the website eventually lead me to discover that most of the beef used in their pet products was sourced from Brazil. In my opinion the origin of ingredients should not be a state secret. The information should be readily available on packages and websites. While this product is probably fine in moderation, it is healthier to either make your own treats if you have the time or use single ingredient products with the sourcing clearly noted such as Stewart Freeze Dried Treats 21 oz. Beef Liver or Primal Pet Foods Lamb Lung Crisps Dog Treat

Big Paws Up From My Two Dogs - Not For Smallest Dogs or Puppies
My two dogs LOVE these snacks. I typically treat them with low-calorie snacks, but decided to try these and they really took to them! They apparently love the taste.Note, please, that these are not "sticks" as indicated on the package, but they're small disc-like snacks - about the size of small pepperoni, like you'd get on a pizza. These treats each have 65 calories each, which is a bit much for a single treat in my opinion, especially for a small/smaller dog. I definitely would NOT go overboard with using them, make them something special. As I said though, my dogs really took to them, and apparently love the flavor. The first ingredient on the list is BEEF, which is good, but they're definitely not FOOD so much as a snack. Please be aware, according to the Pedigree website, these should NOT be given to puppies or dogs under 5 lbs... so if you have a teacup breed, or a newborn/early stage puppy, please don't treat them with these.Complete List of Ingredients as per Pedigree Website:BEEF, WHEAT FLOUR, WHEAT STARCH, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, CORN STARCH, CORN FLOUR, OAT MEAL, CORN GLUTEN MEAL, RICE FLOUR, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, NATURAL POULTRY FLAVOR, GLYCERIN, DRIED BACON FAT, SALT, PHOSPHORIC ACID, DRIED CHEESE (SOURCE OF CHEDDAR FLAVOR),POTASSIUM SORBATE(A PRESERVATIVE),HICKORY SMOKE FLAVOR, CALCIUM PROPIONATE(A PRESERVATIVE),BHA (A PRESERVATIVE),CITRIC ACID(A PRESERVATIVE),VITAMINS(CHOLINE CHLORIDE, D-CALCIUM PANTOTHENATE, VITAMIN B12 SUPPLEMENT, FOLIC ACID, VITAMIN A SUPPLEMENT, NIACIN, RIBOFLAVIN(VITAMIN B2),PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE(VITAMIN B6),VITAMIN D3 SUPPLEMENT, THIAMINE MONONITRATE(VITAMIN B1),ALPHA TOCOPHEROL ACETATE(SOURCE OF VITAMIN E)),CALCIUM CARBONATE, COPPER SULFATE, RED 40,BLUE 2,YELLOW 5,YELLOW 6.
