The other thing is this very design is for concealment- you don't want a great big 2 inch fastex buckle that would be visible under a T-shirt or similar clothing. The reason it looks flimsy is because it is flat- much flatter than an ordinary fastex buckle. I have one and I don't find it to be, or anticipate it to be less than up to the task. **Q: Can you tell if the zippers are detectable with a metal detector? It is big enough to fit our phones and passport (I stuffed mine with 2fl. oz hand sanitizer and small cash pouch) but also small enough to be inconspicuous and can be easily tucked away under clothes/jackets. It does tend to sag a tad bit once you put more stuff. Straps are adjustable and comfy, zipper is not flimsy and feels secure. Zipper head also has enough room to add a tsa lock for extra protection.
