A unique use..
I have some Star of Bethlehem flowers that are difficult to get rid of. I dug out most of them, but some tiny bulbs remain and they spread again. I am inserting this into the ground, attached to a variac (voltage controller) to cook the root bulbs, killing them in place as opposed to digging. Make sure to add water to steam kill the bulbs.

Good element for a hot-pipe wood bender
I used this in building a hot-pipe wood bender. (Search YouTube for a description.) This only takes about a minute to get the pipe to bending temperature, which is much faster than the pricy name-brand bender. It wouldn't hurt to have a bit more wattage but again, it's better than the expensive name-brand version.
