It is totally dependent on what CPU you are using it on and how fast and for how long you are running it. Obviously, how you are keeping your computer case cool is also major factor. Every time your cpu gets so hot to push the thermal paste to its limits, it will lose its quality and over time it would fail. However, I have had to reapply the compound every three to five years. I have used it on the CPU generations before Core 2 duo, and then on core 2 quad and my latest was Core I5, model 750. I played the Diablo 3 on it and Heroes of Might and Magic 5 and 6 which are CPU intensive , turn based games. As you may know, the newer generation CPU are far more efficient and generate considerably less heat. I have been using a Zalman cpu fan and never did water cooling but my son plays much more video intensive games and has water cooler on his CPU. I know there is newer thermal pastes out there but this one will do fine for above average needs as well. Well, you would know it when your game slows down suddenly which means your CPU is getting too hot to perform efficiently. Is sure bet in my opinion for most people.

This is just a heatsink compound that goes between cpu heatspreader and your cooler to fill small gaps and improve heat transfer. Your question is probably more about the cooler in use. Given that this cpu has a 45w TDP, I highly doubt cooling will be a problem unless you plan to do heavy overclocking. Since it normally goes in a laptop being a mobile processor, you probably do not have a cooler choice so it likely will improve heat transfer over stock. I used it in my Alienware and Clevo laptops to replace OEM paste. It may improve things by a few degrees. So yes, this compound will work, just use a tiny amount in the center of cpu heatspreader. Using too much will make heat transfer worse contrary to what many folks think. Just be careful as it's a real chore to clean and do not get it onto motherboard or other areas as it may conduct electricity. I suggest getting Arctic cleaning solution if you do it as a hobby and more than this one time.

I would go off the long term data for something like a 3d printer that could run non stop for hours
