Great buy
I thought I was going to have to give up my Nook because the battery would not hold a charge. This replacement worked great. My Nook is like new. You will need to get directions.

Don't count on the included tools
This battery was bought for an older Nook, model BNTV400. The battery fit and powered the Nook on. Installation was tricky.Upon opening the package, a loose board fell out of the packaging. It appears to be a charging port/board for a different charger than I use with my Nook. Everything else was in a contained box inside the packaging. There were no installation instructions included in the package, so I don't know if the random board would fit/work in the Nook, so I put it aside. I didn't order the battery for this random part anyway. I found some battery installation videos online that I used to guide me.The plastic tools with angled tips, that came in the tool kit, broke the instant I tried to use them to pry off the face plate. The guitar-pick tool worked well enough. The torx screw driver included in the tool kit did not fit the screws on my Nook. Luckily I had a nicer torx screwdriver from a battery replacement on another electronic device and it fit. I'm not new to the battery replacement rodeo.Prying off the face plate from the Nook is nerve-wracking because I didn't want to break the fragile plastic and it was made more difficult because of the glue used in factory installation. Once the face plate is off, it's a matter of removing 17 TINY screws, prying the back off and prying the battery off the back cover. The original battery is glued similar to the face plate. To remove the connector gently pull up at the wires and then pull out the connector from the exposed pins.As for installing the battery connector on the new battery - it's very tricky and I recommend a magnifying glass and bright light. The installation is reverse of pulling it out - tip in the front of the connector and then "snap" in the back where the wires are. After you THINK you have it plugged in properly, I would advise plugging in your charger to make sure the battery charges. A red blinking light means the battery is not connected properly. I had to play with the new (and old) battery a few times to make sure the battery connector was installed properly and would charge. It's a little tricky to line everything back up, snap the back cover in place, with the charging port aligned, all while not pulling the connector off. I advise to plug the charger in again after getting a couple screws in the back cover to make sure nothing came lose when you were getting the back cover on. The nook powered up at 47% battery capacity. I finished putting the screws back in and managed to snap the face plate back on without issue. Hopefully these tips will help you decide if tackling this project is for you. I hope to get a couple more years out of my Nook with the battery replacement. I will come back and update on battery life after I use the Nook for a bit.

Barnes and Noble Should Be Ashamed - Save Your Nook HD from the Trash with This Simple Replacement
I took my nook into Barnes and Noble because it wouldn't take a charge. In sum, they told me to throw it way - that it was garbage and could not be fixed. I almost did it, but, luckily, a gentleman overhead me in store and told me to buy a replacement battery from Amazon. He advised me to get the one with "the little tool" because the screws were a bugger. I lost all of my un-backed-up content (factory restore), but it works like new. HARDLY GARBAGE. Saved me the expense of a new reader and saved this little device I love from unnecessary being discarded. Barnes and Noble should be ashamed of themselves. There is absolutely something you can do. Make sure you match up with the right model number - which is impossible to see on the lower back of the device. I reccomend that you take a picture with a digital camera (phone), and then blow it up huge. You should be able to see it clearly using this method. I owe a huge thanks to the anonymous eavesdropper at Barnes and Noble and a standing ovation to this seller who gave me EXACTLY what I needed to save my Nook HD.

Doesn’t work; terrible support
Horrible product. Doesn’t work at all. No real instructions. I suspect the problem is that the connection between the battery and the board is unstable, but who knows? Tech support is provided through Amazon and seems to be someone reading instructions to me over the phone. I try to tell them what it’s doing and they just keep telling me directions about how to let it charge longer (even though I’m getting an indicator light that says there is a problem with charging). Guess what, over 24 hours later it still doesn’t turn on. I’ve taken it apart 3 times trying to figure it out. Need to send this back.

Good product
Not necessarily super easy to install, but following the directions on youtube should get you to do the job. Allowed me to bring back to life my 10 year old Nook. That's great because my 2 year old one is not replaceable. Something to be said for older gear.

Seems to work.
I'm pretty sure the battery works fine. It looks like I get about 5.5-6 hours of streaming netflix (in HD) at medium brightness and audio. I watched netflix for 1.5 hours and I lose about 1% battery life for every 4 minutes of streaming time. The 14.1 lineage OS seems to drain this battery overnight, but that's not the battery's fault. I'm guessing the nook stays clocked at 100%. The battery stays charged if I leave the nook HD off, so it seems to be pretty great so far.
