Are the back two cockpits big enough for a lego figure to fit and them closing ?

My son said the back two cockpits are big enough for a lego figure to stand in but, not big enough for a lego figure to sit or be placed inside with the top closed.

Is there space in the back two cockpits for the nights and for it to close fully ?

This ship has 2 cockpits for your minifigures but it won't close with them inside. - Marine, LEGO® Customer Service
