Customers should be aware that a device is needed to use these lancets. Fortunately they are pretty universal, and inexpensive as well. Received in a timely fashion, and the lancets went easily through even my rather heavily calloused fingertips

The 33 gauge on this lancet works great on the "sweet spots" of my cat's ears. I use the Abbott Freestyle lancet device on the first setting. Occasionally it seems the needle is a bit shorter and I have to increase the setting to 1 1/2 but otherwise 1 typically works perfectly. My cat will barely flinch now being a fairly new diabetic and I doubt it was ever due to the prick but rather the sound of the lancet device upon engaging it. Be sure to carefully twist the top off to expose the needle, though. It's super easy to bend or break off.
