So far so good. I have a sump style filter and it has an odd ball size filter tray where cut to fit was my only option. I have messed around with products from the brick and mortar stores but nothing really worked to my satisfaction. So I was on the hunt for a good product that was easy to use and sufficiently cleaned the water. This... is that. The product comes well packaged and is basically one giant sheet that is cut to fit for your application. My filter size requires pieces that are roughly as large as a sheet of letter paper. After 4 days I am on sheet number 2. Surprisingly, sheet 1 was clogged within 24 hours, so I cut a second piece and that one is still flowing nicely. So I would say that is a positive attribute. It really does filter well. My tank is a fairly "dirty" tank with many plants and a 17" pleco, among other fish so this filter pad is getting a workout. And its really doing great. If you have an oddball size filter and are looking for a good polishing pad that is cut to fit and won't run you out of the bank, look no further.

I am in awe of this stuff. Ive become a fish hobbyist and I had my tank clear once before but my background messed up and we had to drain it and redo it. Mind you I have 30 gallon so not easy to move at all. After that I had some trouble getting my water back clear and to re-establish the good bacteria in it. I had a sponge filter along with the filter that came in the kit with was not that good honestly. I had used accu-clear, tested the water and also used a balancing agent and nothing. I upgraded to a Fluval 50 that had the bio max, carbon and foam filter. Still it was cloudy. I then bought the filterFirst roll, cut to size and took out the foam and add 2 layers of FilterFirst and it cleared up some but not to my liking. So I bought the polishing pad roll ( which you can cut to size) to add after research and reading reviews. When I say it was crystal clear in 24hrs I was shocked and amazed. Even my husband was shocked and amazed. From now on this stuff will be in my tank! I will use Fluval 50 which pumps 200GPH and then layer like this 2 FilterFirst pads, 1polishing pad, carbon filter, and last bio max. My fish are thriving and happy again!

Amazing! Not only did it clear up my aquarium, it was so easy to clean. Update..... 6 of my expensive fish died. Don't know if this was what caused it, but it was the only change I made to my aquarium.

The water polisher seems to work so far but have only had it for about 2 weeks. It was easy to cut and tell which was the rough side. Pleased with the purchase.

I had an aquarium that was extremely murky due to sand that I couldn't get clean before use and that the usual filter material (sponge and activated carbon) couldn't clarify. I purchased the 50 micron size of this product and it was very successful at clearing the water (although it took a day), and it has continued to keep it very clear. My only "complaint" is regarding the amount of material provided: I have only three smallish aquariums and the amount of material provided will probably last me a decade! Luckily it doesn't rot.

Get it for my DIY fish tank filter project . It works perfect! Get it if you need!

Cut to size, this item is great for helping to filter the water in my fish tank. Also, you get a lot of product for the cost.

The big difference between this and other brands is that Aquatic Experts treats one side of the filter pad to reduce the chance of strands of the filter media coming loose. For other brands, you will annoyingly see strands of the filter media in your fish tank from time to time. Because the texture of the treated/untreated side is different, its easy to place the filter pad in the correct "direction". This means that this filter pad will last longer and can be reused a few times. I cut extra pads for my filter. When its time to change, I put in the newly cut pads into the canister and rinse the dirty pads and then soak them in a bleach solution which releases the dirt. With sufficient pre-filtering with fine filter wool, the pad has no problems lasting for 1 month+ (not sure why some reviews say theirs lasted only 2 weeks - not enough pre-filtering?)

I really doubt this is for aquariums as one side of the pad has some type of coating which seems more typical on materials used for clothing and limits water flow between the material. It looks like someone bought to much of a clothing liner material and is now trying to flog it off as suitable for aquariums. It didn't really work as suggested so will stick with known manufacturers of aquarium products. I don't recommend this product.

Really helped clear the aquarium water. Added on top of the foam sponge and unbelievable how much it picks up. Sure you have to cut the size you need, but really no big deal because price wise, this can't be beat.
