The BEST backpacking food!!!
So, I’ve never been so excited to give a review: This is my go to backpacking meal! As in can’t go if I don’t have it - always bulk order! It’s got it all, GF, meat & the best ever dehydrated eggs(no joke!), veggies, and rice - So simple and so much yummy flavor! The only reason I pack any meal besides this is just so people don’t look at me weird on day three… like you eating that again? Yes, it’s the best!!! Btw, I’ve eaten a lot of prepackaged dehydrated meals, camping/backpacking is life! It’s pretty close to the last meal I’d ask for on my dying bed kinda good! Only draw back are the directions are goofy, you need at least 5 more minutes before it’s perfecto rehydrated! If you are looking to make it more filling, it’ll make it a lil watery, use two cups water - I always do :)

Great Tasting Freeze Dried Meal Easy Prep
We bought these freeze dried meals for some storage for emergencies. This is the second one we have tasted and used for dinner. The meal was tasty and easy to prepare. It’s an easy as open pouch, take out and throw away oxygen absorber, pour in 1 1/2 cups of boiling water, stir carefully and reseal pouch. Let stand for 4 mins and eat. Good for 25 years. All nutrition stats are on the back of the pouch. We shared the dinner between two of us and I cooked some extra rice as my husband is a big eater. I made some bread and sides. This is supposed to be 2 serving sizes and the dry mix makes one cup per serving. This is survival and camping food so for a bigger eater we have made sure we have some extra. The rice contains chicken, eggs, green peas, onions and carrots. Mountain House has several different recipes and this one is gluten free. For freeze dried food I believe it’s a good value with a good taste. I would just say if used for emergencies and you have a big eater I would store more meals and make sure you have different foods with different textures. I will happily purchase more of these.

Very Good for Camp food
Bought this for camping use but I like to try it before I go, and I was not disappointed! The food of course comes in a typical plastic like Mountain House bag. Sturdy enough for a few tosses in a pack but I would pack it with care. Instructions are on the back along with the best by date which in my case was about 30 years from today. Very straight forward prep. Tear on the notch and you will see there is a zip lock plastic strip just below it to reseal. Discard the plastic air absorbing packet and pour the stated water amount. Be aware that if you use the amount, in this case 1 1/2 cup of boiling water the food will be soupy and watery. I went with a cup and the meal had an almost an oatmeal quality. A bit thicker. The chicken parts were good as well as the rice. I could see peppers and some mushroom bits. Tastes like a more moist version of the fried take out rice you can get almost anywhere. Even though it says 2 portions I had no problem eating it in one sitting. It does have a fair amount of salt which is normal and at 600 calories filling. Sodium tops out at 1,520mgs. Red peppers were evident as well as onions and peas along with bits of carrots. Not spicy at all, but tasty. This is a great addition to any storm preps as well. For the allergy prone people it does contain Milk, soy, eggs and sesame. 80 grams of Carbs and cholesterol at 240mgs. Not exactly chocked full of vitamins but 606mgs of potassium. Good to know since if this is for a long term prep or survival scenario you might want to throw a few multi vitamin bottles in your stores. Over all I was very satisfied with the taste, ease of use (cooks right in the bag so all you need is a long spork or spoon). Doesn’t use a huge amount of water and is light weight for back packing or camping use. I have tried other meals from Mountain House and have yet to be disappointed taste or prep wise. (They all prep the same). Great addition on your next camping trip ( temps are warming up so I’m getting ready) or just general preparedness. I highly recommend this meal.

Not air tight!
This bags in particular aren’t airtight as like the other flavors I had purchased. Is that normal? We’ll anyway I went backpacking and I needed this badly. However the food was good.
