Had a 3 step and it was way to steep. The 4 is great. **Q: Could this be used as bow boat ladder when the boat is beached (assuming the steps are long enough to reach the beach)?** A: I don't see why not. However, the top of the ladder hooks to a bracket that would have to be securely mounted to outside of the boat. **Q: Mounting bracket** A: Yes there is a mounting bracket that comes with it, I have a small wooden deck on my TC that I attacked the bracket to. It had the lag bolts with it also, great set of steps. **Q: How high is the rise between steps?** A: About 5", nicely progressive and not too steep. Best stair-steps for my camper I could have hoped to find. Seem expensive? Not at all, real quality & utility.
