Joan Rivers Great Hair Day Root Touch Up Powder – Fill-in Powder for Thicker, Fuller Looking Hair (Brunette)

I have tried different products to cover gray roots between salon visits. This Joan Rivers product was advertised in a clothing catalog. I did some research and ordered from this site the "blonde" as reccomended by several reviews and YT presentations. One presenter said blonde is what 80% of people will use. The pressed powder in the pan is dark brown, however when it is tapped in with the brush it covers the root line at the part, thinning temples and crown. This blends in I have blonde highlights, medium to light brown hair and "wicked" white roots according to my stylist. Start farther back and move towards the front of the face. Short, quick taps worked best for me. It is buildable. I worked out and slept with the product in. No transfer or icky brown sweat. Washed out fully. The bristle brush does shed but I decided not to let that bother me. If you want a better brush there are expensive cosmetic ones, the art section at craft stores may have better price point. There are also angled retractable brushes for foundation. I have an extra one. I may try that with the bristles barely out of the tube. Some reviews had trouble opening the case. There is a verticle line on the cover press it down and the compact swings open. Regarding the smell. It is very light, not unpleasant or noticable after a few minutes post application. I will update as needed and ost photos when I have time.

This is a decent product. It does a good job of making my white scalp that shows through my thinning temples less noticeable but it’s not because it makes my hair look thicker, it just makes my scalp look more tan. It does stay on all day and came with a great brush though. I have to be very careful when applying because it makes my hair look orange if I get it on my hair. I just can’t seem find a product that does the same thing for blondes as they do for darker hair, make it look thicker. Either they are all too yellow, too brown or too orange. I’ll keep using it but it’s pricey and idk if I will buy it again. It’s more economical to just use my bronzing stick and apply with a small brush.

Works very well for me! A little lasts all day! It does rub off and will stay until I wash my hair. Great for filling in the thinning areas.

It’s the only one I use! I’ve tried others. This is the best! Others made my hair feel sticky and the applicator brush was too large. I’ve been using this product for years. Very natural and lasts. I use the white.

Does a nice job. I’ve ordered several times. Not as dusty as the kind you shake. You can put it where you want it with the brush.

I am writing this review 2 days after using the product on myself and my sister. For both of us, the product gave good coverage. Her coverage needs were greater than mine so I would recommend it for a person who needs a lot of coverage. We have black hair and the brunette gave coverage without being too dark. I took off 1 star because of the transfering. My skin is a little sensitive and I think it must have caused some itching but nothing excessive. while scratching I experienced a lot of transfer on the first day. The residue under my nails kind of had me looking like a mechanic but it was easily washed off. My real concern was, I had on a pink sweater the first day I applied and was afraid it might stain and not remove, so I tried to be careful. Because I wear a lot of light-colored tops, I fear I might ruin them with this product. On the 2nd day, the transfer was much lighter and now on the 3rd day it is very faint but still noticeable enough to accidentally transfer. The other star was taken off for the combination of cost and ease of use. First, I could not figure out how to open the compact. And the enclosed brush is fine for detail application around the hairline, but we opted for a make applicator sponge to cut down the application time and then finally the price point is high versus other products I have used in the past which truthfully did not advertise as non transferring and worked just as well.

No dislikes. Recommend for those whose hair is not as thick as it once was.

Just got it, thus not used to much, but so far it provides excellent coverage with very natural effect. Small brush allows you to control application. Not yet noticed any transfer to clothes or bedding, but I’ll update the review after some use.

This is the best powder white I have tried for covering thin spots & hiding pink scalp. Easy to apply & stays in place till it is washed out. Highly recommend giving it a try.

This product is easy to use and does what it says it will do - its like a glorified eye shadow for your scalp! Its easy to apply. The brush it came with, some of the bristles have come out (its been less than 1 month) and the whole top of the brush popped out yesterday - I just hot glued it back together. I got the shade that was recommended - I have medium brown hair and I do think the powder seems a little dark at times but I just blend it in more. The only issue I really have is that is does rub off. I wash my hair every other day so I notice on my pillowcases that there are smudges so that's not too nice, of course if you scratch your head you will get some of the powder under your nails too. I do like the product and will continue to use it, it does make me feel a bit more confident with my thinning hair. I think the little compact will last forever as you only need a little bit, the brush however, I cant see that lasting too long but you can use any firm bristled brush to stipple it on.
