Top Quality & Value!
I've always bought inexpensive, but functional LED flashlights. You know, the type that take 3 AAA batteries, allow you to adjust for a wide or narrow beam that are amazingly bright for a very short period but drop off quickly. The ones that project an odd shaped, square or rectangular, beam with dark vertical lines due to the design of the LED they use. I've wanted to try a better light but haven't been able to make myself spend the money, that is until I saw this 300 lumen model as one of the Deal's Of The Day. But since there was only an hour or so before the sale ended I pulled the trigger without doing my usual research first. But I'm very glad I did, even though I found out afterwards the company had just recently "upgraded?" this model from 300 lumens to 600 lumens. The reason I'm not disappointed is because I discovered a high quality well focused 300 lumen flashlight is very bright and a pleasure to use. And I don't miss the ability to adjust the beam because this light provides a "pure" beam without any shape issues and without any dark areas and provides excellent visibility both near and far. The other reason I''m not disappointed is of course because I get more time per battery at 300 lumens than at 600 lumens. I've found the benefits of a light of this quality are first, the quality of the beam but second, the quality of the materials and the technology used throughout. The materials and technology means it can successfully survive drops and rough treatment and should last many many years. I mean it doesn't use a traditional filament that can fail/break from rough use, it uses springs on both ends of the battery to protect the battery from damage due to shock, the body is tought and solidly built, the lense is essentially unbreakable, etc. It's odd that I've always been the type who'd rather buy quality than repeatedly buy and replace inexpensive products, except when it came to flashlights. But, once again, I've proven to myself the "buy quality" philosophy applies, even with flashlights. Again, the new versions of this model are 600 lumen but, having now experienced a good 300 lumen light, I prefer the extended battery life of this light over any benefits a 600 lumen light provide. Lastly, i know this light is available without the dual power settings but I find the lower setting is often sufficient for the task at hand and appreciate the increased battery life it provides. This is another product that shows the best products are made in the USA.

That's great if you use a flashlight to search your basement ...
I've been buying and using Surefire flashlights professionally for 22 years, including the 21 years I've been in Law Enforcement. I'm also a weapons and low-light tactics instructor for my department. I own at least 15 flashlights of various sizes, brightness and manufacture, including several from Surefire, Streamlight, Nebo, and several brands from China. I've used all of them extensively, I don't own dust collectors. While I've only been actively using this flashlight for about a week now I can say without pause that it's typically Surefire. Extremely well made and robust. The tail-cap only switching keeps operation simple. To change between brightness settings (15 lumen to a mind numbing 340 lumen) you just click the tail-cap. I've used digital flashlights with a bezel switch system. They're convenient, set it to the setting you want and use it. No clicking through the tail-cap. That's great if you use a flashlight to search your basement for where you stored your Christmas lights. But, if you use our flashlight to search someone else's basement for a violent felon, changing your hand position on your equipment to adjust brightness levels is distracting. Having the ability to go from a low 15 lumen (no over-bloom to screw up you adjusted visual acuity) to a searing 340 lumen (to definitely screw up the visual acuity of the person you've just directed the light at) is convenient and intuitive using the tail-cap switch only. I have to say that I think 340 lumen is overkill or interior searches. At that brightness level you will screw up your ability to adjust to the light level in your environment. The over-bloom from reflective surfaces (white walls, ceilings, anything at all) will be essentially like aiming a 65 lumen flashlight directly at you. So, stick with the low light setting until you need to blind somebody. Where the 340 lumens really comes in handy is outdoors. It has amazing throw and can really light up a dark field, the undersides of multiple parked cars, dark alleys, you name it. That was the draw back to the old venerable Surefire 6P at 65 lumens. Perfect for interior work but lacking utility in large areas. The new 6PX Pro is an excellent combo. Highly recommended, particularly at this price.

Dependable
Long term review. Eight years ago I happen to see the Surefire 6px Pro listed on Amazons lighting deals. I jumped on it. Great price. Iโve always and still do consider this brand top notch and high end. The size and weight are ideal. Battery run time is amazing. Iโve only replaced them maybe four times. Of course I picked up a gpx as a back up a few years ago. The built quality of both are outstanding. Love the aluminum construction of the 6px. Seems indestructible. The light output is perfect for my general purposes. The low setting for my nightly urban walks and general auto and house chores. The high setting more for outside urban environments. Very reliable and does what a quality flashlight should do and beyond.

its good, really good, but not great
the tailcap opereation is eeh. When you have it on momentary low and turn it off for a breif second to say,,, pass over someone your camping with without blinding them, then when you turn it back on it will likely be in high mode. The other thing that is bad is if you want to use it for Morse code, you will again be flipping back and fourth between the modes. My last gripe is that the lenses is not glass, just plain old plastic. Come on surefire, we know its one of your cheapest lights, but its still eighty bucks for a flashlight. On the up side its amazingly bright on high, and just perfect for everyday tasks on low. Some of their other lights have just 5lumens on low, which is too low in my opinion. What I want on low is the kind of output of the 2D incs of yesteryear, just enough to walk around with. I would not consider the low great for getting up in the middle of the night to pee while camping, because it will still hurt your eyes once they are well adjusted. Over all I am satisfied with my purchase. its a good, durable light that is backed by a great company with great customer service. You get to buy american and get a quality product. Even with the wonky tail cap, i would still pick it over the single output model. 320 lumens is just too much for most tasks, and you will end up with a light that is not useful in most of your tasks, is not cheap, and has terrible battery life (if used on high all the time) If you are stuck somewhere, you need more then two hour of run-time. The two mode one fixes that problem well. I would not buy any flashlight that does not have a setting of less then 80 lumens unless it was going to be dedicated as a weaponlight or something like that. I think you will like this one, go ahead and buy it.

Super durable and VERY bright
I've only owned this flashlight for a couple of days, but thus far I'm very impressed with my purchase. It is classified as one of Surefire's entry level lights, but they really didn't skimp with the construction or quality of the light. For an around the house/camping LED light, it has a good balance between features and price. Yes, it has a plastic lens, but it is recessed probably 3-4mm below the bezel, and doesn't bend or flex when pushed on. I'm not worried about it being broken, and if it gets a few small scratches, so what? It is a flashlight, not a camera lens or other precision optic. It has a good sized O ring where the end cap screws on, which I'm sure should make it reasonably water resistant. Again, it isn't being sold as a model that can be fully immersed for a long period of time, but I'm sure it will probably survive the occasional dunking here and there. The light output is great. The low setting is plenty to keep from stumbling around the house if the power goes out or for use around a campsite. The high setting...wow. It is brighter than any other light I've used this size and is probably even brighter than my 4 C cell (though much less expensive) LED hand lamp. Best of all, it is made in the USA. I'm sure some don't care anymore, but I've become a little dismayed about how one product after another that was made here for generations gets moved over to Asia.

Compact and Practical Flashlight for Reading and Reaching
This may be my fifth SureFire flashlight, going back to the incandescent bulb age, and it's by far the best I've owned. The construction, as in most SureFire flashlights, is anodized or some other deep-colored aluminum, reassuringly solid.. The lens is glass and the relector surface has a proprietary dimplying, and, at the rear is a rubber covered (waterproof) 2-stage switch for actuating the light. The low beam, that comes on with the first click, works well to illuminate reading material (maps) or a footpath so as not to cause loss of night vision. The next click unleashes a beam that is fairly focussed and magnitudes brighter, enough to blind someone that meant you no good or to penetrate a great distance, more than you might think possible from such a physically small flashlight. It puts the old MagLite 6-battery behemoths to shame, and it fits comfortably in your pocket or pack. I haven't used it much yet so don't know how long the batteries will last. Duration depends, of course, upon which setting and whether it's left on continuously or used intermittently. LED's are extremely efficient in terms of their energy requirements, so I expect not to have to change batteries often. Just a great flashlight and highly recommended.

Best Flasight you'll ever own!
the Surefire may be a small looking flashlight....but it sure has a mighty, powerful beam. Actually, the Surefire flashlight has everything you want in a flashlight. This particular 6XP Pro has the dual LED...giving me the option to use the low beam for small jobs and the high beam to light up a very dark place. Example: In the backwoods of the country where there are no street lights, it is very dark at night, and on high beam...this little guy doesn't just light up a small portion of the woods, it lights up a fair amount of it and then-some, without that center dark spot you get with most flashlights. It out shines and out performs my big bulky Mag Lite. Which goes to show, bigger is not always better. The Surefire 6PX Pro is the perfect size, very durable, light weight, and well made in the USA! I also purchased the rechargeable batteries and charger. If you're looking for a great flashlight that will last a long time...look no further...well worth the extra dollars you spend on it, and through Amazon.com I thought I got a pretty good deal. Surefire has a nice line of these flashlights for a variety of jobs. I can see why the military and police force use them. Great piece of equipment.

Perfect for my application...
This is not the brightest light surefire makes nor is it "tactical" but it is built very tough and fits all the right carry systems and it uses easy to acquire cr123 cells. It is a great EDC light having only 2 modes (low and high) and both are balanced modes that make sense and give you enough illumination but not so much that it blinds you in close quarters situations. If you use a flashlight for what FL used to be used for which was to look under tables for lost items and in dark cabinets at work and in attic crawl spaces, etc... This will be a great light. If on the other hand you want a light for tactical use with your sidearm consider the P2XFURY which is 200 lumens brighter on high for short periods at the expense of the battery life but has the same low setting, I just chose the 6px pro because I primarily use my light indoors as an EDC light and overly intense lights are somewhat overwhelming for that purpose and just waste batteries. BTW got to love the SF switch... I'm wasting a lot less batteries now that I'm not having my 4/7 turning on in my pocket...Nuff Said!
