Great tent for our 4 hooligans!
This tent well constructed (fabric/stitching/mesh/flooring) and offers various method of ventilation to keep the inside comfortable. It is good size and could sleep four adults in mummy bags with all non-essential gear out. Without the rainfly it's primarily mesh all around the four sides. One unique feature is the top side vent. It has its own small rod support to hold the vent open and a zipper that opens allowing access to three latches across the top to allow closure during rain. There is nothing inside the tent to hang a lantern from. There are two mesh pockets to hold misc. items located across from each other on the side walls. The rainfly can be a bit cumbersome. The tent itself use (6) stakes total. The rainfly uses (12) total. There are a lot of Velcro connection points to the rods as well, make sure and follow the directions and get all of them as these are essential for the stability of the tent. We haven't been through any storms in it yet, but the rainfly covers the entirety of the tent and drops down to within inches of the ground on all sides. The only openings on the rainfly are the vestibule entry, which has an overhang protecting the zipper and the top vent. Assuming it did rain the three latches when engaged should be able to keep the rain out on the top vent. If rain is getting in then you'd need to adjust the guyed support rope the better angle the top cover of the vent. The vestibule adds some additional storage space that's covered and protected from the elements, though items would be sitting on the ground. If you place a tarp under your tent, you could pull some additional tarp out and into this area. I stand at 6' 2' and the vestibule entrance almost has me crawling thru to get in. Keep this in mind as it might be easier to load up the tent with your rainfly off. The door to the tent itself is huge and has two latches allowing it to stay open when unzipped. There is a small little pocket built into the inside of the rainfly so that the vestibule entryway can be unzipped and tucked away to allow additional ventilation. Word to the wise. When setting up the tent in windy conditions, make sure and set the tent up so the tent entryway faces the wind as described in the set-up directions. The vestibule will help guide the wind up and over the tent and the crossed rods (tent rods and vestibule rod Velcro to each other under the rainfly) provides much more stability then the two rods at the back of the tent. This comes from personal experience in 25-30mph winds. The winds were hitting one of the back rods, which was bending it inwards on the tent. I couldn't rotate the tent at that time, but found out that through manipulation of the guyed support rope on that end helped provide additional stabilization during the heavier winds. Other then that, the tent held firm and that was with the factory anchor pins. I could mimic the inward pull on both back rods during calm conditions from inside the tent. The two front rods wouldn't pull inward like the back ones... So again, set the front towards any heavy and/or expected windy conditions. The vestibule entryway is from the side, so the entrance will still be protected. The tent folds up and compacts nicely. The rainfly when packed down takes up about as much space as the tent. The rods are standard length. Probably not the best for back packing but great for our family with three young boys. Setting up solo tent takes approx. 18 minutes, tear down/fold-up takes approx. 20 minutes.

Proven Winner! Thunderstorm proof!!
My first Amazon review as a Prime member because you need to GET THIS TENT!! This amazingly water and wind proof tent held up under an all night thunderstorm. Got this for my kids (9 & 7) and I so we can Camp, hike, kayak in Daniel Boone forest. We get really bad weather here at times so I need a winner! We put this up in the back yard during remanence of hurricane Nate. It was 80° and clear when we started. The tent was a bit warm inside but I could have simply draped the rear cover over top to allow more venting. We used every stake and strap. When we crawled inside at 9 pm it was 75° and comfortable. 3 of us each have our own sleeping bag and mat. There was plenty of room for 1 more but all floor space would have been taken. At 1:00am the rain started getting heavier. By 3am it was a sever thunderstorm. The wind ,10mph gust, heavy heavy rain pounded this tent until 5am. NOT A DROP OF MOISTURE! No drips, seeping through wall or bottom. NOTHING!! I did use a tarp as a foot print but in this condition it wouldnt have mattered much. The kids and I slept pretty good. Kids never woke up worried but did wake up because the rain was loud hitting the tent. Coleman should supply 4 pair of ear plugs. :) The dog slept in the vestibule which stayed dry, with foot print, except at the bottom edge around the ground. Just keep items back 6-8inch and it will be fine. Have to admit, at times, I got a litte nervous about water and wind but this tent could easily taken on more rain and wind with no problem. Price doesnt mean quality. Dont waste $200 to $500 on a 3 season 4 person tent. If like us we camp a few times a year. We are under 6ft tall, lol. So unless you need special accomadations this tent is a proven winner. Only upgrade I will make are tent stakes. Coleman is still a major competitor to high end outdoor gear. Very, very, very pleased to make this my first review.

a good tent!!!
I bought this tent for my trip to Yellowstone. I loved how I could have it set up in under 10 minutes and that it only took one person. This allowed my friend to get the food cooked faster upon our late arrival to the campsite. It's a good quality tent as far as the material, the zippers work well and don't snag. I love the vestibule and how you can keep shoes and other gear out of the tent, yet protected from the elements. The all mesh tent body has great pros and not so good cons. Pros: The first time I used it was Father's Day weekend. My 5 yr. old nephew and I stayed in it without the rainfly on as it was 70+ degrees overnight (yes even in northern Wisconsin we have great summers). The mesh was a great feature as it allowed us to watch the stars and millions of fireflies which had my chatter nephew speechless. Great experience! ; D You have the feeling of sleeping right out under the stars without the annoying bugs . The size of the tent is great not too big that the tent is annoying to pack or find enough room to setup, yet not too small so that 3 people and a good bit of gear can still fit in it. 4 people really do fit comfortably. The base of the tent is made of good quality/ durable material. It's a little noisy but I'd take noise over a leaky floor any day. Cons: The support sleeves that the poles slide into are made of the same material as the tent body. It'd be better to make these with a more rugged/ durable material as the metal female ends of the poles have rubbed holes through the material in the 4 months i've owned the tent. Also the sleeves made a good space for earwigs to crawl into as earwigs are a common nuisance in northern wisconsin. It'd be better and easier if there were plastic tabs to place over the poles like other tents I've seen in place of the sleeves. Also like another customer mentioned there aren't any loops or hooks to hang a lantern/ flashlight or fan from the top of the tent. Also with the tent body almost entirely mesh, it allows too much air flow on cold night even with the rain fly on. Our first night in Yellowstone the temperature dropped down to 38 degrees and this was in the middle of August. It made for a really cold night. It would have been nice to be able to zip something over the door to protect from the big space of the vestibule where cold air was gathering. The other sides of the tents were close enough that it didn't allow much air flow in, but something over the door would definitely be a nice addition. The stakes are light which make it great for packing, but they also bend pretty easily, I think about 5 of them are bent out of whack already. A few minor adjustments and this tent good tent would be amazing! I know I had a lot of cons, but I really do love this tent. I've just been bringing an extra blanket for insulation and wear my snowboarding baselayers under my sweats at night. Like I said I've only had the tent for 4 mos. but I've used it at least 12 times. I think that speaks for itself. A great tent, easily packed, easily assembled and offers great versatility for weather and a great price with fast shipping from Amazon!

Great DRY tent!
Not only did I use this tent, but I brought a batch of them over to eastern Europe where my friends used them all summer long in a camp. This area gets intense rain storms several times a week, so I've learned to really research what tents will stay dry. After reading some of the reviews on this tent I felt like I was taking a gamble, but every one of the tents stayed dry! During one rain storm I thought for sure our tents would be wet, and it even hailed some but these tents withstood it perfectly. Some tents are being used from a year or two past- meaning the zippers, floor materials, and other elements are really good quality (these tents get used a lot!) At one point I stayed in this tent with two other girls and we had plenty of room, and could have fit another person in if we would have needed to, though I admit we're used to three people in a 3-man tent. We found that the vestibule was roomy and private enough from the outside to be used as a small changing room. Another great feature on this tent is that they come in bags that were small enough to be taken onto planes as carry-on items and light enough for our team members who were over 80 years old to carry easily. This tent is a really good value, has a nice roomy vestibule and main room, and is completely waterproof! I know we'll be purchasing more in the future!

Great durible reliable for the price
We have used these tents for Boy Scouts for more than a decade. They obviously haven't all withstood the brutal assualt of prebuescent boys who like to lose poles, break poles, setup up tents in low spots etc. But they lasted longer and were more weather resistant than what you can find around the $100 mark. We just bought more for the troop this last summer at a steel at around $85/tent. they are a challenge to setup by yourself and the boys take a little training to have a frim understanding on how to set them up but really once they figured it out they have done pretty well and have even set them up in the dark. Pros: -They are very durable (if used gently and actually last quite a while if abused) -The Vestibule under the rainfly allows for realitivly easy access -The rain fly goes clear to the ground which helps prevent the wetness in the Pacific Northwest -For scouts it gives the older boys something to do to train the younger scouts on (kinda the point of scouts) -Coleman has repair kits that you can buy if the poles break (and with scouts poles many times will get brokent) -The tub of the tent is very resistant to water intrusion. We has a group of scouts that set their tent up in a low spot and with rain the low spot filled and actually floated the bottom of the tent. I think the main seam leaked a little but we were able to save thier gear and move thier tent to higher ground without wet sleeping bags and clothes. -The dome main body is super simple to setup (think normal dome tent) -There is ample space for 4 youths + gear although the scouts prefer 3 scouts per tent. Cons -They are heavy not for backcountry camping -They are a pain to setup if you have never done it. Having two people setup is almost required. -The scouts tend to try to push the poles through the pole pockets at the top of the dome where they cross. We have had many a tent with the pole pocket torn. -like most tents and tent bags these take a seasoned scout to get them rolled up and back in the coleman bag. -Coleman bag is pretty weak. Zippers don't take much abuse, seems tend to blow out etc. Do yourself a favor if you plan on using it a bunch go get a larger bag for it. We make canvas bags for the scouts mostly so that I don't end up having to re-roll every tent.

Low venting options and difficult entry/exit
I have the Coleman Hooligan 2 (two person tent), and loved it, so when I needed a slightly bigger tent thought this would be a great way to go. And it almost is. It's not a backpacking tent, but is relatively compact. You're not going to stand up in the tent, which is fine by me. The tent stood up to rain and moderate wind so far. It is easy enough to set up and tear down. The main issues I have with are two things: the venting and entryway. The Hooligan 2 has a large half-dome window on the back side in the rain fly that can be zipped and unzipped allowing for really great ventilation and airflow. This has a tiny top air vent held on by three grommets. It seems potentially an issue if there is heavy rain, but I haven't been in anything but light to moderate rain so far. But it makes it a terribly stuffy and uncomfortable tent in hot weather. I wouldn't recommend this if you plan to use in a warm climate for that reason alone. The second issue is the entryway. The Hooligan 2 has a full side zip to entrance, which makes it super easy to get in and out of the small tent. This has a tiny little cubby hole that you literally have to crawl through. I'm not a big guy (6", 160lb), but I find it difficult at times. It also plays into the first issue that it makes it impossible to get airflow through this tent.

Worked out great. Very Happy with this tent.
I bought this tent for a weekend camping trip after not having camped out in a very long time. After reading mixed reviews for many tents on amazon from horror stories to years of use and no problems I'd have to say that this tent was perfectly fine for my needs and how it performs is up to you and mother nature. Here's what i factored when buying it and how it worked out for me: -Setup: I haven't set up a tent in god knows how long so I did a "dry run" in my backyard a day before I left. I did it by myself in about 25 min reading the instructions. I took my time and didn't push the poles too hard since it's going to be my home when camping. I was also gentle with the back vent pole since people have said it breaks so I kept that in mind. I did buy a plastic mallet which worked out very well but the spikes worked out fine both at home and at the camp ground. -Size, layout etc: The thing i liked about this tent was how it looked. It's a little different than a normal tent (I always have to be a little different). It feels private inside with no windows and you can look outside from the top vent. The size was fine for the 2 of us and we had about 1-2ft in all directions of free space not counting the vestibule area. The vestibule was very nice IMO since we could keep wet/ dirty things out there like shoes etc. The vents also seemed to let in air great which was a HUGE concern for me. We also set up under a tree which probably helped but I didn't wake up in a pool of sweat or water so that was good. The mesh of the tent is also something to think about as there is ZERO privacy without the rain fly. It's like a normal tent but all mesh with the red tarp rain fly on top of it. -Height: I am 6ft tall and a young spry guy so getting in and out of the tent was no problem but it is more work than a normal tent since you have to duck/ crouch into the vestibule area before getting to the main entrance to the tent, but it also added to the sense of privacy of the tent. -Rainfly: The rainfly was also a big selling point/concern for me since some people complained about leaking in some of the sewn parts. I personally had no leaks and didn't seal the tent at all before using it, despite having it rain for 10+ hrs the one day with a complete downpour in the middle of the night. -Packing- Like anything you buy that comes prepacked it's near impossible to pack it back up again the same way unless you are some kind of packaging robot, which i am not. I did however do a pretty good job and got the rain fly and tent part in the same bag and just have the poles/spikes in the other bag they give you for them. I folded each part separately until it was about the length of the bag it came in and then rolled each of them as tightly as I could (like a sleeping bag). When I came home I also hosed off the tent and rain fly to try to get rid of smoke and dirt. Final Thoughts: This tent worked out great for me since I knew what to expect from it. I used it in about 70-80 degree weather in humid upstate NY, I set up under a tree and was cool, even cold at night and fine during the day. The rain fly worked great and the tent did get rained on pretty good despite being under a tree. Nothing broke because i took care of it and was gentle/ thoughtful when using it. We camped with others but the design of the tent with the removable rain fly makes me want to sleep out on top of a hill with the rain fly off and relax under the stars with my lady.

well made tent; great greenhouse!
This will be an odd review as we are not using this tent for camping. I have camped extensively however, and see this is a quality tent at a good price. It is equal to a 3 season tent with the cover going all the way to the ground, giving good coverage for rain, wind and cold. It would be a little cold for me; I prefer to camp in a tent with a taffetta barrier to cold. Taffetta holds in body heat yet is lightweight to carry. Lots of people prefer a cooler tent however, and this would be it, with its mesh inner tent. That total mesh interior (with a taffetta base for sturdiness and durability) is what we bought it for. We are using it as a greenhouse for a small container garden. The tarp style bottom won't rot with water drainage (which dries quickly in our arid region). And the mesh allows freeflow of air; maximum sun exposure. If it's cold, we pop on the cover and/or a blanket. If 100+ degrees, a sunshade or even a king size bedsheet will provide shade; can spray it down for a nice humid cooldown inside. Cheapest greenhouse ever! Right now our seedlings are secure from the ravenous bird population outside the mesh.

Excelente Carpa!!!!!!
