The description says standard shams for quilts, but others describe them as large w/ king size. Do I need King pillows with King quilt?

In my experience, yes. Buy some cheap ones just for the shams. I have queen pillows to sleep on, & the king in shams for looks.

Is the back of this quilt quilted too? Some of the photos look like only the front is quilted.

Is it too feminine for a man's bedroom?

My husband doesn't care, so it's been fine. But I personally think the pills polka dot lining is feminine and more youthful than I would like. It's very comfortable overall. My main concern is that it did shrink significantly the first time I wash/ dried it. I should have ordered a king for my queen bed.

Soft and pretty

This set is nice and soft, amply-sized, pretty, and very well made. It is fairly thin, but that is just what I wanted. It lays on the bed well, and looks really nice. I like the way it is stitched and edged. The shams fit my king size pillows. I am happy with my purchase.
