Do the pedals "coast" (stop turning) when you stop pedaling or is it a fixed gear where the crank is connected directly to the flywheel?

They coast. When you stop peddling they stop turning.

What are the dimensions of the seat?

Not exactly sure, but I bought an additional padded seat cover to put on top of the seat to make it more comfortable.

How can you change the travel of the pedals, they distance is so long that my knees are in my chest or I can't reach the pedal at the bottom.

The seat does adjust up and down. If you have it at its lowest setting, there isn't anymore that it can be adjusted unfortunately.
