Great top coat, no UV gel lamp needed
The Essie gel couture longwear top coat is one of my favorite top coats. At first I thought I wouldn't be able to use this without a UV gel lamp, but it is actually made to work without one; the "gel couture" in the name is just meant to simulate the look of gel nail polish. Like the rest of the Essie nail products, this has a wide brush that allows you to cover most nails in one stroke, and it does not remove or disturb the underlying nail polish. It dries fairly quickly and leaves a very glossy finish. It helps keep my nail polish chip-free for about an extra day compared to using my Essie quick dry nail polish without it. I would recommend this. The Essie "Here to stay" base coat is great (not to be confused with the Essie "grow stronger" base coat, which is awful). It has a wide brush which makes it easy to apply to each nail in one stroke, dries quickly so I don't have to wait long before applying my nail polish, and keeps my Essie quick dry nail polish on for 2-3 days without chipping. I would recommend this.

Shiny and strong top coat!
Perfect top coat. Creates a shiny and strong salon finish nails. Removes easily with standard nail polish remover. Highly recommend.

Glossy, gel like look
Wow. I am stunned. The brush, it’s so incredible easy to use as it’s not too small or large, and it has a flat and rounded tip for the cuticles. The formula is very good as well, when I apply it, it self levels beautifully. The polish is quick drying as well, drying to touch in about 1 minute. The durability is good, I tried scratching it and it didn’t work. However, there is one flaw. If you are a perfectionist like me, the top coat dries a bit too quickly for a “perfect cuticle” look. Going over the same area more than 3 times will mess it up and create brush marks. So my technique to deal with this is wiping the wet brush on one side, and immediately applying from left to right on the nail. It does create a bit of tiny bubbles though, but I don’t know whether that’s normal or not. My attached photos are my nails after 3 days of wear on semicured gel strips.
