STEP 3: Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with Benzoyl Peroxide

For reference: Combination skin type - oily/dry Age - mid 30s Acne - not severe and occasional outbreaks, maybe hormonal, not sure Situation: had an acne outbreak specifically around my cheeks, and forehead. Redness all over my face. I bought this product on a whim and IT WORKED for me! Lifesaver! I was starting a new job and I had recently broken out more than usual. I ordered the product on a Friday and received next day, Saturday. I used it first on Saturday and by Sunday morning I noticed my face was not as bumpy. My acne decreased DRAMATICALLY that day. I used it again on Sunday night, on Monday, my first day at my new job, my acne was gone. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it’s a true story. I had been using cureology and that worked until it didn’t. I also used CERAVE cream and that didn’t really do the trick either. Out of desperation, I tried this miracle working product. I still had/have redness, and I’m not too worried about that because the makeup takes care of it. I’m so grateful to have found this product just in time. Overall, It’s a great product. The size of the container is big and you really only need a THIN amount over your face/affected area. It is lightweight, yet powerful formula. Do not over do it… read below. BUT… DRYNESS: one downside is that my skin dried out, more around the mouth/cheek areas. So after two days, since it worked so well, I stopped using it. I have been using a moisturizer at night and morning to help, and it has been better. I’m only going to use it as needed. STUNG: I also noticed that when I applied moisturizer, primer, or face wash, my face burned a little. Not horribly or unbearable, but I could feel the tingling sensation. Again, this is why I stopped using it after day two and will only use as needed. As with all products, you have to find what works for YOUR specific type of skin. Thankfully, this worked for me. I’ll definitely buy again.

This is nice. Does not pill under skin care or make-up. Feels moisturizing and is very light. Is effective. I saw a visible difference after the first application..

I’ve used a few times and already seeing a difference!! my skin barrier has been compromised from using a bunch of other unnecessary products so I apply the Skin Clearing Cream after cleansing and will leave on for 10 minutes. Next, I rinse it off with lukewarm water & apply my moisturizer. It’s dried out my pimples nicely & I haven’t noticed any new pustules since using the product! 10/10

This product was the final step to clearing up my acne. SA acne products weren't helping my skin AT ALL. I spent a fortune on different moisturizers and serums containing salicylic acid and my skin didn't improve. I purchased the la roche-posay 4% benzoyl peroxide face wash to give a different active a try, and immediately started noticing a difference in my skin. I went on a hunt for a benzoyl peroxide topical of some sort and found this. It's made a huge difference and was the final step I needed to clear my acne!

I’ve been using this brand for a long time, but I was a bit disappointed with this cleanser. I’m not a fan of the texture or how well it actually cleans the skin. It doesn't remove makeup at all — I have to use a separate product first, and even then, after washing with this cleanser, my skin doesn’t feel refreshed or light. I wish it were better. Also, the price of this cleanser is a bit too high for the size of the tube.

Paula's Choice Benzoyl Peroxide is the best I have ever used. I have used many kinds, even prescription, and this one is the best. The tube is HUGE and should last a long time. My favorites feature of this product is that it is not sticky at all and it does not have that paste effect, even when you apply a lot or apply two layers. After application my face actually feels smooth. I have battled acne all my life. Mainly the cystic kind that seems to breed new acne from existing, making a vicious cycle. The only way I can stay reasonable clear (meaning my face is comfortable and I don't have any huge and long-lasting acne,) is to use Cetaphil Dermacontrol Foam wash, followed by Thayer's Witch Hazel applied with a cotton round (wait until your face is completely dry.) Followed by this wonderful Benzoyl Peroxide product. Once that dries (apply liberally because this stuff does not get thick of pasty,) I apply a layer of Cetaphil Dermacontrol Moisturizer. After that I use ONLY Estee Lauder foundation and/or powder. If I follow this regime, my face is satisfactory and I feel good about it. Eveyone's face and situation are totally different, but maybe my method will help someone else. My favorite part about the above regime, is that it is inexpensive. The Estee Lauder products are the only ones that are a little expensive. The rest is affordable.

I'm not a giant fan of BP and it's not my favorite acne treatment but this is the best formulation of it hands down for me. I normally avoid BP like the plague because every BP product I have tried before this, whether drugstore or prescription, has burned and irritated and damaged my skin to the point of pain and redness that almost seemed as bad as acne. And usually they didn't help my acne either. My skin never adjusts. Especially living in Texas and therefore spending most of the year sweating, my face would just feel hot and sting constantly with other BP creams. This one doesn't sting hardly at all. It's pretty amazing. I attribute this to the hefty amount of alantoin and bisabolol. I still will only wear it at night but I can literally apply this to my most irritated skin, even open skin and still tolerate it. It's also not as drying and doesn't seem as prone to bleaching. For reference I have moderate to severe closed comedones and nodular acne. It is more pricey, but worth it if BP works for you when you can tolerate it.

I like

I use this on my pimples when they first pop up. They disappear quickly and without scarring. This, along with other products in my skin care regimen, has really improved my acne-prone skin.

Wanted to like this product but it burned my face and left it so sensitive and painful. Feels fine to put on then starts burning 5-10 minutes later. Couldn’t even tell you if it works for the intended purpose as I stopped using after 3 days. Not good for my skin at all!
