The Colon Cancer Diet

Can’t wait for my friend with stage 4 to read!!
I bought this book for my friend who is 38 and was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in the last month. I personally witnessed myself at the hospital a few times how they ( the oncologist and nutritionist !) don’t recommend any specific diet or supplements ( supplements they say may interfere with chemo ) and that the main goal is for her to put on weight so you have energy after chemo . I even heard with my own ears from the hospital nutritionist that “sugar does not cause cancer, it s a myth “. She also told my friend that changing her diet would not help with the cancer at all, but to eat, for example , a bowl of ice cream , if she was craving it, because the main goal is to put on weight. Putting on weight will help since the chemo can change your appetite and taste buds. I was shocked and appalled . Thankfully I found this book which had incredible advice and it actually gave general statistics for people who took certain supplements and for people who excercise more, for example. A great read!

It is written by a knowledgeable doctor who also is the patient!
I bought this book one week prior to the resection of my colon. My husband and I used the suggestions to shop and prepare for my recovery. We were lost in a world with little instruction on how to meet my dietary needs and I am ever so grateful to Dr Maloney for his work. It is written simply and straightforward and was a pleasure to read. I carried to the hospital. Highly recommend.

Nothing new but I liked the supporting research
Great sense of humor and exactly to the point. I think this book is really a must read for anyone with colon issues in general.

Great read and easily digestible ( play on words, but true)
Author gave clear and concise information and enough science peppered with humor that makes it both informative and approachable. Thank you!

Very helpful
This book was very informative and helped me tremendously. I felt better to know that he understood my situation on a personal level. The book was a quick read but a continual reference to go to for more help. So glad I purchased it.

Solid advice
Good information that gives a quick overview of the best and the worst in terms of understanding colon cancer, diet, exercise and supplements. He doesn’t preach “my way is it”. He explains the research and encourages you to make your own decisions.
